God help us!

Good god, Biden is looking like the antichrist more everyday!

Nah, apparently the antichrist will have many qualities that lead people to believe he's the Messiah before he goes full Satan. Biden.....well, doesn't.

To be honest, unless they are ""Space Marines"" or ""Super Soldiers"" 200 troops is rather a trivial number and not of much consequence.

They will be there in a military advisory capacity methinks.

If any US soldier’s are hurt in an aggressive act by China, then Biden can use that to declare war (if he’s insane), or at the very least it makes the US a legitimate part of the conflict.

He’s calling Xi’s bluff; attacking Taiwan will be attacking the US.

Of course that’s not remotely accurate, but it’ll give Biden leverage to get the ok from the international community to ‘defend’ the remaining troops with a fleet

Not really sure it’s the wisest move

I don't think it the wisest move myself McGinty.

At heart, it's nothing more than a token gesture.

But I don't think China will invade Taiwan because they won't be able to hold it, and any invasion would pretty much destroy its commercial and industrial capabilities.

That being said, i did not think Putin would be silly enough to invade Ukraine, and that happened and continues to happen.

There’s no benefit for China to take over Taiwan, other than fulfilling chinas ego.

The only thing going forChina is less ocean to travel to Taiwan, but their navy is still at Gillian’s island levels.

There would be a huge benefit for China to take Taiwan if the US just sat back and let it happen.

But if it means full blown war with the US, then yeah, there’s no benefit for anyone if China invaded Taiwan.

If China ends up in a full-blown war with the USA and her allies because they choose to attack Taiwan then there go their markets in Europe and the USA.

Simply cannot collect debts and/or sell the export products to nations that you are at war with.

The sacrifices that would have to be made weighed against the gains that occupying Taiwan would present simply don't merit the bother involved.

If China takes Taiwan they will be shooting themselves in the foot regarding the rest of the century to come because they simply cannot grow as a nation without the US and European markets to facilitate said growth.

The only nation that would really benefit from such an invasion right now would be the Russian Federation via China becoming a pariah in the pacific in the same to similar manner Russia have in Europe for the foreseeable future.
