PAKISTAN has successfully test-fired a short-range, nuclear-capable missile, the military said in a statement.
The Hattaf II, or Abdali, missile is capable of reaching targets up to 180km away "and can carry all types of warheads", the statement said.

"As part of the usual confidence-building measures, prior notification of the test had been given to all concerned."

News

This region is volatile enough, and now a successful nuclear missile.

its seems this area will fall back to the old stand off that India and Pakistan once had. Might be a cold war in the region for a long period of time now.

Not really..
This is an interesting time for both nations in terms of bilateral relations..
Both nations are carrying out defence purchases w/o worrying about what consequences it may have on CBM's (confidence building measures).. while the CBMs themselves are proceeding parallely to this military events..
For e.g.:
Bus route between Pak occ. Kashmir and Ind. occ. Kashmir
Cricket series between the two being held in India..
Exchange of civilian prisoners (straying fishermen etc.)

Its just the old cycle, Pakistan test a missile then India tests a missile. Then again Pakistan and so on. I don't think it ill have any major implications they have been doing this for years.
