How to find out if you will be fired

Need some brainstorming here folks. I call it the "employment litmus test" (sp?). Here's how it goes. Basically you try to innitiate some process at work, with someone who would know for sure if you are about to be terminated, and see how they react. One example:

-Suppose you have a 401K from your old company, and you want to roll it into your current company's version of the 401K (some companies have different types). So knowing that this process will take some time to complete, you get the process started with HR. The idea being that if HR has some inkling that you are about to be terminated, they might react wierdly.

Other ideas? Help please!

Make it sound as if your joking and see what his first response is. If its nervouse fallowed by what seems like forced laughter then you are probably getting fired. If its momentary confusion fallowed by laughter then your alright.

Hmmm . . . I wonder if there are any other COVERT ways of finding out? No snooping around, but just probing people to see what kinds of responses you get. Hate to be a pest, but any other ideas?

Tell your manager you hate him. That always works for me, then I know I'm getting fired.
