All religion grew out of an awareness drive. It has always been messy and very bloody.

By any means necessary is something all adherents of faith can relate to.

Criticizing and abolishment of the old ways.

Critical thought traded in for conformity of belief.

Different denominations, BLM, ANTIFA etc.

Forced upon a populace.

Ostracism for disagreeing bodies, i.e cancel culture.

Preaching peace, love and unity.

Covid 19 is their version of a biblical plague.

George Floyd, a martyr.

If you want to understand the mindset of modern day wokeists, look no further than a new religion in the middle of its birth pains.

Right now Wokeism is very young and old testament in style. Might is right. It will lie, cheat and steal to achieve its objectives.

It will go through a transformation where it will eventually become more new testament. It will force the people to police themselves.

It will milk their followers financially.

It is bourne out of guilt.

It is coercion while proclaiming inclusion.

Admission of guilt and repentance in a public display, followed by indifferent forgiveness. Sharon Osborne comes to mind.

An elite will benefit financially and politically. You will cling to an effigy known as the cause.

Its culmination is always in the future, just beyond your reach. Like a mirage you can see it and if you reach out you can almost touch it. Meanwhile, things have to get worse before it gets better.

If you can understand religion, you can understand the mindset of the left.

Hmmmmm...what an interesting observation and comparison!

I'm going to have to think about this one for a moment.

S&F for the originality of the OP.

On a side note, I'm sure it won't be long before there are numerous people here dismissing this thought out of hand.

The hardest thing for any of us, is to look into the mirror and admit difficult truths.

Not sure of the parallels between religion and wokism.

Religion is faith and belief. Not self-cented.
Woke is a perception of better social awareness, usually by the person. Self-centred.

I contend that religion is an insurance policy for your soul. Believers love Pascal's wager.

Therefore, very self centred indeed.

Not sure the might is right phrasing works here either. I mean, wokism doesn’t scream brute physical domination to me. More like whining and blustering and posing in costume.

That's total bs.
Religions come from existential questions, like what happens after death, how did it all begin (creation myth) and the rules of conduct are a result, means to achieve salvation.

Wokeism as you call it, doesn't ask or answer any questions, if you want to compare it to something it's like social rules in Victorian England.

It's part of the outrage psychology of our time and that's not even political, the topics vary the single minded me-and-only-me attitude is the same left and right.

Religion is an attempt to explain chaos and exert control over your manifest reality.

Same same, but different. Right?

Religion tells you you are born in sin. Wokeism tells you you are privileged and racist.

As always, it has all the answers tailor made and contradictory, just like religion.

Yes, because "political beliefs" are a substiture for religion.
That has been true since the French Revloution.

Look in Toynbee's study of History for the concept of "Corporate self-worship".

The goal of this movement, whether stated or not, is nothing less than the complete dismantling and rebuilding of western culture from the ground up.

Maybe you should reconsider

www.convergemedia.org...

This is not just a political or social movement within the framework of traditional enlightenment values. Concepts such as logic, science, and reason are viewed as tools of the oppressive white patriarchy. Values like individualism, hard work, punctuality and delayed gratification would be understood as perpetuating white supremacy. Critical Theory has become much more than a social philosophy and is the primary philosophical driving force behind the new civil religion of wokeism.

Hmm, few issues
Also, don’t think you can compare it to Judaism from the Old Testament

What is wokeism?
Not sure myself but
Its Political in nature, it’s effectively “group think”.
If you want to call the schools, the new churches, politicians the new priests, then yeah maybe a religion
But then, is communism a religion?
Nazi Fascism?
Trumpism? Wasn’t he a martyr in the true sense?
Wokism is simply Identity politics, not individualism and I would say New Testament christianity is very much individualism, seen how many different types of churches exist with different views

I think you're doing religion wrong. Are you Muslim or something? In the Western World Church and religion are seperated since the French Revolution ca 230 years ago.
And for good reason.
Religion per se doesn't tell you you're born in sin, it tells you you your thoughts and actions, your intentions, your existence matter.

What answers does your wokeism provide?
It's what people do, what 'society' has done since time immemorial, control by peer pressure, often religion was used for that, but it's still not what it's about, or even remotely the same thing.

Why? Because you found a quote of another dumbass that sounds the same?

Noticed how he puts 'civil' in front of religion? That means it's all about politics.
Political dogma is still not religion.

I don't do religion.

And using the term Muslim to insult me?

You're the one praying to the same god as them.

Like I said. Looking in the mirror sucks.

Give it some time. Eventually it becomes personal for all of us to wonder what happens when we die.

But in the meantime you shouldn't maybe have such a big mouth about stuff you didn't even think about yet?

It's quite hilarious remember my first post on this, sorry for quoting myself
