A Colorado Democrat (Kerry Donovan) thinks the state has the power to regulate the First Amendment on social media platforms to investigative whatever they deem as hate speech, fake news or conspiracy theories.

The bill sponsored by state Sen. Kerry Donovan of Vail seeks to create a new state commission appointed by the governor and granted with magical powers to regulate interstate commerce on social media used around the world.

Completely not a coincidence, Donovan just so happens to be running against U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, who is the unintended poster child of conspiracy theories.

Chief among them is the conspiracy promulgated by Democrat themselves that Boebert plotted and led the Jan. 6 insurrection.

The other favorite conspiracy theory among Democrats is that Boebert is a big believer in conspiracy theories.

Therefore, Democrats need to quash their own conspiracy theories and their fake news buddies by regulating themselves, no wait, we don’t think that’s their intention.

Colorado bill would censor ‘hate’ speech and ‘fake news’ on social media

...
Bill Summary

The bill creates the digital communications division (division) and the digital communications commission (commission) within the department of regulatory agencies. On an annual basis and for a reasonable fee determined by the commission, the division shall register digital communications platforms, which are certain communications-oriented online businesses, such as social media platforms or media-sharing platforms, that conduct business in Colorado or own or operate services that are offered to Colorado residents. A digital communications platform that fails to register with the division commits a class 2 misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 for each day that the violation continues.
...

Digital Communications Regulation

You heard it right folks. This is more evidence of how radical "democrats" have become. This Senator wants to introduce a commission for "fake news" and hate speech" including anyone whom dares state that the 2020 election was stolen.

This Senator, alongside a majority of former democrats/now CCP loving and bought off socialists, wants to suppress freedom of speech. As long as they, democrats, were doing it for over 4 years using nothing but lies to claim that President Trump was illegitimate, and was chosen by the Russians, this scary witch of the west wants to suppress anyone whom now says there is evidence the democrat/pro-CCP loving socialists stole the elections...

She wants to hold accountable any media, or website that is either in Colorado or allows their services to be used by people in Colorado, that allows Americans their free speech, and wants to punish them for $5,000 U.S.D. a day until the media/website takes down such opinions.

Not a big surprise.

Leftists aren't for freedom, free speech, or the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

They're anti-American, anti-Constitutional assholes.

Makes you wonder...

If the whole election thing was all above board as they say....why the mass suppression of conversation?

Seems to me the only reason you wouldn't want people talking about it is if there's something to hide.

If there is no election fraud, there should be ample evidence showing this right?

I don't mean 'no evidence of fraud' as determined by courts. I mean, facts and records showing the contrary. These should be easily producible right? It shouldn't matter what people say on the internet.

Makes me wonder...

How many utter fools there are in this nation that don't realize the importance of the first amendment. It's no coincidence that it's the very FIRST part of the Bill of Rights. Our founding fathers were well aware of just how significant and crucial freedom of speech was and always will be.

Progressives only want freedom. Defined as you are free to believe exactly what you are told. Just don't stray.

Ironic the democrats that want you to be “free” want only a one party system with no freedom of political opposition.

I read a good part of that bill, about the only thing that I like in it is the fact that people can't use facial recognition technology on the public.

Still though, this is about a asinine as it gets, I'm concerned that if this bill passes, we will lose every member of this site from Colorado. They also threw in this little number:

Include practices that promote hate speech; undermine election integrity; disseminate intentional disinformation, conspiracy theories , or fake news

So if this passes, nevermind talking about the elections.... ANYTHING that is considered a conspiracy theory is punishable by law. My question is, who gets to decide if it's a conspiracy theory?

They should expand the bill to include Main Stream Media. If the MSM was prevented from pushing hate speech and conspiracy theories, the 24 hour news stations wouldn't be able to fill an hour.

Daily reminder that the idea of censorship and restricting constitutional rights is the enemy here, not our fellow Americans. But yes this proposal is unethical.

This is literally pissing on the American forefathers and their reason to start afresh from all the corruption and oppression. Literally telling you that your ancestors were morons who don't need to be listened to.
Even as a European, this makes me quite angry, it's heresy, it's treason, it's insulting to the max.
If they can change your constitution, there won't be anything they stop for. Nothing.

Actually, I don't know who said it, but if the ones 'in charge' make illegal decisions, it is your duty to stop them by all means necessary. Grow a backbone America and stop the rot.

It's Sergeant Sarcasm, actually. Some people get carried away in their knee jerk reactions and start beating up each other instead of the ball, which is why the mud pit was implemented in the first place. Balls are just so much more fun to kick when they are vulnerable organs attached to living people. Hence the friendly reminder.
