I was just working on my laptop and saw the first mosquito as temperatures are beginning to rise.

My mind started racing, worried that flying insects could be vectors for Covid. That idea was quickly shot down after a quick search. Mosquitoes cannot trasmit the coronavirus.

However, I had an inversion of thought. Can these bloody irritating insects be used to spread a cure... I was thinking of bio-engineering. I don't know anything about the subject and thought to myself that it's too much of a futuristic idea.

Lo and behold, after another quick search, my notion is actually being studied, even if a practical application is not possible at this time.

Researchers in Japan have transformed mosquitoes into vaccine-carrying syringes by genetically engineering the insects to express the vaccine for leishmaniasis–a parasitic disease transmitted by the sandfly–in their saliva. According to a study in Insect Molecular Biology, mice bitten by these mosquitoes produced antibodies against the parasite. It’s not yet clear whether the immune response was strong enough to protect against infection.

The problems are not just technical, but ethical, too. This obviously opens up a whole new can of mosquitoes worms!

Releasing the mosquitoes would also mean vaccinating people without their informed consent, an ethical no-no. Yoshida concedes that the mosquito would be “unacceptable” as a human vaccine-delivery mechanism.

Anyway, if and whenever this becomes feasible, there will always be mosquitoes available. They were here millions of years before us, they will outlive mankind... maybe they can save us from disease in the future, but they will never save us from ourselves.

That would be all fine and dandy if TPTB actually wanted a cure.

If people think that’s what these vaccines are for, they are sorely mistaken.

Population reduction with a heavy dose of socialism is closer to the agenda.

Don't want the vaccine? Maybe you will get it anyway come mosquito season.

Sounds like a great plot device for a zombie or sci-fi flick...

Read a zombie book where the cause of zombies was a pharma company working on a cure for cancer. In real life, there is a fungus that infects ants and turns them into zombies. The pharma company some how figured out a cure for cancer using this fungus but unknowingly turned people into zombies....

Zombie Ants

Ophiocordyceps unilateralis and related species are known to engage in an active secondary metabolism, among other reasons, for the production of substances active as antibacterial agents that protect the fungus-host ecosystem against further pathogenesis during fungal reproduction. Because of this secondary metabolism, an interest in the species has been taken by natural products chemists, with corresponding discovery of small molecule agents (e.g. of the polyketide family) of potential interest for use as human immunomodulatory, anti-infective, and anticancer agents.

I wonder how many will make this out to be a good thing. lol
It's really just getting weirder and weirder with every day.

This is where science is taking us isn't it cool?

Yes, absolutely! That's the same plot of the movie "I Am Legend".

Given the sometimes nefarious nature of our rulers this is an all around bad idea.

Any time I'm meant to do something against my will I'll resist and vaccine mosquitos won't discriminate those who want it from those who don't.

Won't argue that in a way mosquitos would be great for this purpose but I don't trust those in power to be in charge of this, actually I don't trust anyone enough to be in charge of this.

The original novel from the early 1950s by fantasy/sci-fi genius Richard Matheson (whose career also includes "Its a COOK BOOK!!") featured our hero concluding that mosquitoes were responsible for carrying the bacteria that caused the vampire pandemic - if living people were infected, they had a chance of becoming harmless, civilised vampires; but if dead people were infected, it was basically George A. Romero time with added fangs!

However, IRRC, his own immunity in the book was achieved through being attacked by a vampire bat, but I can't remember the notion of actually using mosquitoes to spread a cure; however, I may be wrong and perhaps the excellent 2007 movie DOES include it - I haven't seen it since release.

The other two film versions, 'The Last Man On Earth' (1964, with good 'ole Vincent Price) and the more famous 'The Omega Man' (1971, with Chuck Heston lumping his way across the screen) are decent enough, but do not follow the source material as closely as the Will Smith flick.

(Bloody film buffs, eh? I'll shut up now.

Not necessarily good but pretty cool.

It would be better if they were bots so they could be deployed at any time of the year.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet.

Gates awards 4.1 million for mosquito engineering.

The Florida council approved release of 750 million genetically modified mosquitoes in 2021/22. The intention is to reduce the population of disease caring mosquitoes. Repeated from aGoogle search.

Who funded the GMO mosquitoes? Oxitec

Oxitec is an Oxford based genetics engineering firm who is in partnership with.... Drum roll... The Gates foundation.

And for your reading pleasure try
Immunization Via Mosquito Bite With Radiation-attenuated Sporozoites (IMRAS)

Brief Summary:
This study is to assess the safety, tolerability, and biomarkers of protection in healthy malaria-naïve adults, who will receive bites from Anopheles stephensi mosquitoes either infected with Plasmodium falciparum Sporozoites (PfRAS) (true-immunization) or noninfected (mock-immunization).

I see Gates again. If there is one person who doesn't see the financing going on with this foundation and how he's behind so much going on in the world today... Your blind. How people listen to him I just don't understand. People won't listen to a group of medical Dr's around the country (I believe they've been silenced), but they'll listen to this guy, who doesn't have any business talking publicly in my opinion.

He's buying up farm land. Behind the 3D printed food. Covid vaccine. Mosquitoes. And I'm sure I missed some other things. Here really cares about your well being. Bwahaha. C'mon man. Do you really believe that?

Ironically, after I finished this post the following video popped up to watch on YouTube. What timing!

Thanks for the book information. I knew about Matheson's book being the basis of the story. I always wanted to read it, but I've been trying to get it on the cheap - no luck.

LOL, I'm the same, I'm always comparing real life to movie scenarios... it's fun until you can't remember the damn movie title and spend hours searching for it. IMDB and Wiki are your friend.

Wow, thanks for that! Yes, his dirty hands are in a lot of "humane" enterprises.

I met him once, but am not related in any way. In fact, I gave him a "Blue Screen of Death" look!

Baal Gates & Co has been working on vax delivery via mosquitos for years.

How about “edible vaccines”

What could go wrong.🤪 Step right up, get yer free veggies, err daily Windoze 'Update' and become part of the transhumanist family. Permit DENIED to grow your own food. Resistance is futile. F that crap.

Good thinking on you psrt, well done.

Given the idea was being worked on, and is in the public domain, how long do you think the 'ethical issues' well block delivery of a suitable vaccine/virus/poison?

If the virus doesn't survive transmission via mosquito, wouldn't an mRNA vaccine for it have identical issues of degradation?

While they're tinkering, get them to eliminate that damned itch. If we're going to be zombified by crazy DNA science we could at least do it without the scratching.
