Starting this thread for those in the International community with a genuine interest in the 2020 US elections. While we may not have a vested interest locally, we do have an interest from the fact the US President does play a big role in setting the agenda for the world stage.

My thoughts -

Biden - I honestly didnt think he would get this far. I thought there may be a plan to run with him up to about a month before, then swap him out for someone else. Maybe Hillary? Michelle Obama? I thought that would protect them from the 12 months of scrutiny allowing less time for them to 'screw up' and give the bump that a fresh candidate always gets closer to the finishing line.

Using my healthcare background, i do have concerns for Biden. I think his cognitive functions are declining fast and i dont see him making 4 years. Not saying i think he will kick the bucket, but i think mentally the job would be detremental to him.

He likes to point to his wife and I have heard him refer to himself as Jill Bidens husband. The last time i saw that was Bill Shorten when he wore a t-shirt on election day with the slogan "Chloe Shorten's husband". He lost ... badly. My opinion is dont tell us to vote for you because you are the smartest and best to run a country then say she is smarter and better than me. Why are you running instead of her?

The 'folksie' act really bothers me. The whole i am from Scranton now just sounds like he is living in the past or lost. Makes me think if you pulled up his sleeve you would find a phone number written on his arm in case he gets lost at the fair. I have seen clips of the hair sniffing ... wtf is the go with that! You can tell his advisers have told him to give the vision that you are a family man sitting round the table with the family like some 1960's sitcom. Instead (and only older Aussie's would understand this) he comes off as Uncle Arthur from the 90's comedy show.

Trump - I like the fact he is not a polished politician. He makes no bones about that fact. He hasnt been 'acting' for years displaying a personality and values that he thinks will get him re-elected next run. As for what he did previous to this with taxes etc, as Australia's richest man once said to a government enquiry " Of course I am minimising my tax. And if anybody in this country doesn't minimise their tax, they want their heads read, because as a government, I can tell you you're not spending it that well that we should be donating extra!"

I think he has kept his word the most of anyone one elected in a long time across the world. He said what he would do and to a large extent he has done it. Nothing annoys me more than when they make promises like "we will do this/that by the year 2050". What the hell ... you will be long dead by then and not held accountable so i aint falling for that one.

Is he a sleazy womaniser? Hell yeah. But show me a business man his age with the same wife who hasnt been caught diddling the secretary or someone half his age. The alpha male personality it takes to be sucessful usually comes hand in hand with that. Men then say women should hate him ... wont vote for him. I say as a woman not true. We're not idiots, of course we know the cloth he is cut from. I'm not married to him, so its not my problem what he does with his penis. If its consensual then its nothing that a large percentage of males have done or wished they had diddled who he has.

Some would be thinking but they must be a moral compass to lead a country? You silly fool. I will teach my kids the values and behaviours not some politician who lets face it have usually sold theirs to get where they are by the time they get to run.

Conclussion - I think Trump will win. I do think there is still a very large silent majority right across the world that dont buy what others are trying to sell. All the other white noise disappears when you get to the cubicle to vote and you decide who will do the best or make a difference for me! for my family! Personally ... i wouldnt think which one has a kid with a laptop that isnt corrupt like their old man, who has plucked the daisy of the youngest/prettiest female, what they will do for the climate in 30 years. Its what they can do for my life here and now.

I also think there will be trouble. I dont think either side will accept the result. I dont see anyone shaking hands with the opposition and saying well that was tough but we lost fair and square now lets go have a beer together. I think it will be anarchy. I think there will be rioting and looting. The level of anxiety is already to hightened to not blow the lid off.

Two last thoughts-
Many in the press need to stop calling themselves journalists. They are opinionated influencers these days and make the good old journalists turn in their grave.
And ... If Trump wins, can someone tell Bruce Springstein Australia is closed and the last thing we want is a celebrity who thinks we give a flying f&^k about their opinion. Just sing, or dance or do whatever made you famous.

Well there you go, just my thoughts and opinions.

Joe Biden is not patriotic to the country that he was born unto. And comes across as a cruel dictator with the interest of no one but his own selfish power hungry brainless brain, therefore he's a world citizen with no ties no commitment no loyalty to any country whatsoever.

Donald Trump comes across as a man of peace for the world.
It's also been stated that he would like to share what is known to him as prosperity and his personal life and let people around the world have the opportunity to be able to have a prosperous and happy life within a peaceful means of their society.

off as Uncle Arthur from the 90's comedy show.

WTF I never knew it was Glenn Robbins who did Uncle Arthur

Australia's richest man once said to a government enquiry " Of course I am minimising my tax. And if anybody in this country doesn't minimise their tax, they want their heads read, because as a government, I can tell you you're not spending it that well that we should be donating extra!"

That was Kerrry Packer I think - he had an old family trust that supposedly was taxed differently

YEah I was pissed went Tom Hanks got special treatment in coming to Queensland during Covid

I hope Trump does win as the better of 2 evils. As long as he doesnt listen to Giuliani or Bolton and try to attack Iran I'm ok with Trump. Ultimately the decisions to go to war are probably fleshed out at the Bilderbergers away from public eyes

Springsteen's got a a new great song out, but he can get stuffed as well.

Neil Young's welcome any time

think it will be anarchy. I think there will be rioting and looting

A lot of US ATSers seem to think so as well.

It'd be a pity, as someone like the CCP would take full advantage of it.

You're in Sydney I notice - its a shame what Melbourne's going through right now

In an odd sort of way, I'm looking forward to anarchy and the boogaloo. I have some scores to settle and they won't find out until it happens. Careful what you wish for...

A lot of people will be seeking revenge come the boogaloo. Long memories, serious resentments and no mercy. Ordinarily peaceful people are buying some serious weaponry and patiently waiting....

I'm Australian, I'm also conservative, so I have that bias, but I think it'd be lunacy to head toward Biden, I think in the last debate he was outlining a plan to destruction. And I also feel that all this laptop stuff is something that would probably need to be investigated, and it would be an investigation that would be hindered if he was President. And if he had to stand down it'd be Harris running the show, and I don't think anyone deserves that.
Trump is Trump everyone that dislikes him has a list of why they don't like him and everyone that likes him has a list of why they like him. But at the end of the day, I think the work he has done globally has been for the most part good, look toward the developments in the middle east, bringing NK to the table as well, I think in the debate Biden tried to pin him on 'legitimising' NK but really having NK open to talking has got to be better for everyone. I mean last month or so he apologised to SK for the death of one of their people. you know so that's got to be some improvement on how things were and I think the way that Trump treated him has something to do with that

It makes no difference who wins. TPTB already know who it will be and why.

Neither is actually going to change the status quo.

I'm British too, and I'm married to an American. We both agree that Trump is a corrupt, stupid, deeply ignorant incompetent with a massive case of narcissism. We can't wait for him to be escorted out of the position that he's totally out of his depth in and we regard Biden as very competent and a far, far better man that President Tinyhands ever hopes to aspire too.
The level of delusion about Trump on this website is astonishing.

Bore da .. I think you have TDS, your opinion is correct that President Trump has tiny hands but that’s all you’re correct on .. he’s done more for America than any President since President Lincoln .
Biden has ruined any chance off being President after that Debate last night .. If you don’t know what’s happening with Hunter and the Chinese emails then you need to have a catch up and if you do know and are ignoring it that’s called TDS !!

Don't be twp.
There was no debate last night. There was a debate on Thursday. I know all about the deeply suspect story about Hunter Biden's laptop and I'm not fooled by it for an instant.
Trump has not done more for America than Lincoln, that claim is laughably silly. He's done more than FDR did, in WW2, has he? Done more than Truman in desegregating the military and standing up to dictators? Has he passed huge civil rights bills like LBJ?
My wife has voted for Joe Biden and I agree with her choice 100%.
Let's agree to disagree shall we?
