WELL DONE!! Vroom, pthena, DoE, doll, Terry and sos!!
Great to see so many wonderful and creative entries here.

Huge Thanks to DTOM & team for keeping the "campfires" burning brightly!

Gx

(*Re: Tie breaker... I suggest the following:
Get the tied parties to pick winners in some sporting event the following weekend!
That would provide a quick, clear-cut result and fun!... if... you.. like sports!! ...and the sports teams don't draw.... LOL)

Just spit balling here but the first idea that popped into my head was to have something of a run-off. Have both winners post their ideas for the next theme into this thread then, a few days later, count the stars on those posts and whoever gets the most stars wins.

Signed - a person who recently sat here counting stars and flags and who might be a bit damaged from the ordeal.

We came close to a tie last time,I won by 1 point.
We could either have a quick, tie-breaking mini story,
like someone suggested. We could have the two winners
work together on a topic with opposing views.Or,we
could do rock,paper,scissors...

We usually don't announce the topic until the next contest is open for entries. So ... hmm. If the topic becomes known so publicly then people will have longer to work on stories. We could get some better entries that way.

I don't have any problem with that.

I don't follow sports at all. I'd have a better chance picking a number between 5 and 25.

When I was working on the next topic it really isn't easy.
I had a list of topics,I went through past contests.I spent
more time naming this topic then I did when picking a name
for my baby! I kept changing my mind and U2U DTOM a lot.
After reading a thread someone had posted,I made my final
decision,Campfire Tales.You don't know how close I came to
naming Presidential Election 2020.

Presidential Election 2020

I'm glad that got tossed in the camp fire.

What a year!!! Record wildfires in an election year.

=============
Lead off to Topic Idea

I'm sure most people can relate to a phrase like Dick and Jane stories.

As for me, not so much. My First Grade readers featured Tom, Betty, and Susan. I learned such things as what a highway was and even what a metropolis is. It's a type of town but really big, not just a single town like where Superman lived.

When I got into Second Grade the great classics of World Literature were made available to me. The first of such that I remember reading was ___ _____ ____ ___ ___ ___. That is a very fine example of _____.

So my topic idea is: write a short story, poem, play, song, which has a _____. The _____ does not necessarily have to be explicitly stated as long as it seems obvious.

RUN OFF IDEA
If pthena and Vroomfondel will agree to write a run-off-for-picking-the-next-contest-topic, we'll do that.
It will be a word limited contest, but NOT 100 words, and then get voted on. They can pick their own story idea.....it will NOT the topic on the next contest.
More details when they let me know if that idea works for them.

pthena and Vroomfondel, please PM me about doing this...or not.

I'll post the rules for the runoff later today.
It will lean toward being short and simple.

I'm starting to feel rather rattled enough.
My secretary had to go,
Couldn't be sure who she was working for.

Speaking of dolls:
I think I messed up nesting quotes in my PMs.
Yeah, nesting dolls;
Russian nesting dolls.
But don't quote me on that.

This mellow drama
is not calming my nerves.
