Isolation and quarantine is a great opportunity for people to get to know themselves better.
If you can't enjoy your own company, you've got some self-improvement to work on.

It's also a good way to get over social dependence and learn how to be adaptable to both a quiet lifestyle and a public one.

Point is, this is a learning experience, and the only difference between an ordeal and an adventure is your attitude.

I'm with the people who say it's a great time to take up a hobby.

Even with a 60 cents @ gallon tax on Illinois gasoline, the price per gallon has dropped under $2.00. Good news for those of us who drive a lot.

Not very good though for people with depression when the ONLY chance they get to interact is with the public. And there are a lot more people with depression than hobby uptakers.

That's where the internet helps a little. Skype, facetime, happy music, hobbies, pets.
My closest friend is on meds for depression and she's doing the best to make light of it, and she's a very strong fighter. We've been video chatting every other day or so.
If anything, she'll come out of this even stronger.

ETA: I know not all people with depression are able to contact friends and stuff via social media or phones and computers, and that genuinely does suck for them. But here's hoping there's a light somewhere for those folks. Peace and best wishes to all who suffer from mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, schizo, etc.

When Taran Tien, 9, and his sister, Calliope, 6, heard that their neighbor Helena Schlam was self-isolating to protect herself from the coronavirus, they wanted to do something special for her.
Schlam a 78-year-old lover of classical music, insisted she did not need groceries. So, the Tien family found a different way to help.

On Monday, the two siblings, wearing a suit and a dress, took their cellos and headed to their neighbor's porch where they held a classical concert just for Schlam.
