Otherwise known as a hurricane for the northern folk.

Cyclones aren’t uncommon this of year up here, such a big one heading straight toward Karratha is.

Will be an interesting night!

Predicted Cat 4 when it hits the coast. Stay low chad.

The 'woop woop woop' noise of flying corrugate sheeting can lead to some serious injuries.

Oh I remember those days.

Kind regards,

Bally

Stay safe and stay low.

You will need a case of beer and get some salted nuts to munch on.

Drink slowly ... don't have too much.

Knock yourself out after it passes. Write yourself a note that says 'great party' and then the clean-up won't seem so bad.

I’ve been in a couple now, this one is different though, as I’m in my own house this time round.

And it has a decromastic roof that I don’t completely trust to stay on.

I have a nice single malt whiskey to keep me warm.

Stay safe man!

Most we ever have here is a high wind and maybe someones fence gets knocked over, then it's the talk of the village for the next week 😂

Well I learned a new thing today, had to look up decramastic roof. They look pretty nice, much better than the asphalt shingles we use here.

Stay safe!

Keep cool and look after yourself. I hope you've got a strong safe place to lie low. Roof, buildings can be replaced, lives cannot. So don't worry about the building cos you can do nothing till the aftermath. Just hope it doesn't wreck too much.

Stay low and make sure you're somewhere that you can stay safe even if the rook does decide to go sight seeing.

I never knew til this thread that "stay low" is good advice in a hurricane. I guess it makes sense unless you're in a flood-prone area. Us inlanders think everything coastal turns into raging rivers of flood waters if it rains an inch. The news taught us that.

We have a storm surge too, so stay low but not so low you get flooded. Love it.

Literally in the eye right now, once the wind eases a bit I gotta check the damage.

Stay low as in stay somewhere in your safe area where the idea of your roof flying off won't impact you. The idea of a safe area hopefully means above the level of any storm surge.

Generally in the state we see people in their hallways with a mattress propped sideways over them in case the roof flies off.

How are things going mate. Thoughts are with you. I post this imagining power is out and probably won't get a response for a couple of days. Watching it on the news and through BOM.

Kind regards,

Bally.

Lost power not long after my last post actually.

Not too much damage to my house, patio has a nice lean to it, whirlybird on my roof is gone and two big branches from an unknown tree in my back yard.

Others haven’t been so lucky.

Kind regards,

Bally

When you clean up those branches think if you can make something out of them as conversation starter. Picture frame, little bench stool, etc. Just a little something that says you took what the storm gave you and made something out of it for yourself.

Kinda like a dropbear mistook me for a tourist so I skinned him and made a hat out of him sort of thing.

G,day bloke. kept an eye on your thread to see how you got on after the big blow
figured the power would go down.
at least your roof stayed on.
some one prob saw your whirly gig fly over and did a mufon report lol
its a good feeling to know you survived a cyclone pretty well intact
