So trying to help out my wife. She gets what we believe anyways
Is Eczema, focused on her palms and sometimes soles of her feet.
It seems to flare up when she is overly stressed. It is not a constant
thing for her. But when she does get it it can make her miserable.
Her palm will start with feeling itchy, then small bubbles or blisters form
Then those will break leading to peeling , and a raw spot similar
in my opinion to a burn in appearance.

She also works in child care, so is constantly washing her hands.
This only exasperates the situation.

She will constantly use lotion meant for Eczema, also uses Aquafore
But it still takes a long time to heal for her.

So my question ATS, is can you help my wife out?
Have any of you suffered through the same?
Any treatment methods we’re overlooking?
Are we even diagnosing it correctly?

Thanks in advance,
2

I had a similar issue, I was getting it everywhere, behind my ears, my arms, my lower region....if u get my drift, and my hands.

My mom was at wits end, and did an elimination diet, and papow! It went away!

It was mainly red dyes, too much sugar, wheat, and too much milk.
She also said something about the lining of my stomach and my body was attacking those foods and the eczema was my body's way of saying hey! Something isnt right here!

So maybe hers isnt food related, but her body is reacting to something and triggering the eczema as a result...maybe since you said stress, she could try some stress reducing things like meditation, or whatever makes her be happy., like in her own world happy. I dunno, I'm not a doctor, but I've been eczema free for 15 years! So I keep doing what works for me.

Wish you guys the best of luck!

Saw the other post after I replied, yes, fish oils, my mom had me taking like 20 of those gel pills a day, omega3, she was big into shaklee products at the time. But fish oils was a big part.

Thanks!
Never really thought about it being a reaction to food etc.
Definitely seems to be fueled by stress. She’s getting ready to do her GRE.
She already enjoys doing yoga, will try and look into some other techniques.

I get some symptoms like that from eating tomatoes and some other foods high in Benzene. Oranges are not as bad as tomatoes. Cinnamon can do it if I consume too much too. My body does not break down the balsam of peru allergy members well and my grandkids have some problems with that too. I can eat tomato products once a week without much ill effects. It bothers my face and feet but it causes way more problems in my granddaughter and great granddaughter.

Foods that contain sodium benzoate additives are also a problem, a glass of rootbeer does not seem to do anything, but if I have a sixteen ouncer, it will cause problems. It is supposedly genetic or sometimes acquired. I have tested many things in the Balsam of Peru allergy and I seem to have problems with two or three of the classes in it. It is accumulative, if I have a cinnamon roll and also have spaghetti that day it will be worse. Euginol intolerance is part of that allergy.

It can look like eczema sometimes. I know other people who have the same kind of problem and the doctors are treating them for eczema. I have only told one person I know who had the problem and I have not seen them since, so I do not know if they are finding any relief yet with their skin problems. It does not hurt to test on yourself if that causes a problem. The BOP allergy also effects some organs, but you cannot see the effects of that, but I noticed if I eat a lot of tomatoes or other BOP foods my guts feel lousy too. Something to try to see if it works, no cost at all to try to identify if there is a problem with this, but it does take many months to figure out which parts of the BOP group that you have inadequate enzymes to detox. The skin will excrete the benzoic acid or benzoates, but it can irritate the skin while it is happening. Berries have this chemistry too, but sometimes the benzene is bound and your enzymes do not break it loose, sometimes you can eat one type of berry but not the other.

Other than that, there are some cremes to sooth the skin. High niacin foods tend to raise the permeability of the veins and arteries and allow more chemicals to get to the skin. They increase nitrous oxide in the body, so does releasing a chemical from the muscles if it happens too quickly. You see people doing meth that take niacin and their face is broken out.

Now what I am talking about is not true eczema, but it has the same symptoms.

Hi! Along with the other excellent answers here, I highly recommend the book, "Medical Medium" by Anthony William. Read the book as it gives a deeper understanding and ways to heal eczema and other issues. It is a 344 plus index page book. I've seen people read it in 2 or 3 days. I do hope this helps. Best Wishes to your Wife!

You should schedule an appointment with an allergist or someone who studies immunology to diagnose the condition first. Maybe a dermatologist, but I would go to an allergist.

My sister's eczema issues turned out to be (after years of trying to figure it out) too much dairy in her diet.

Tell your wife to do a three day juice fast (2 green juices, 6 carrot/apple juices) and see where she is as far as symptoms.

Not a doctor, but I've seen a lot of issues solved with dietary changes.

Please look into vitamin D
I've had eczema and psoriasis all my life.

I was recently tested and found low on VitDdue to cortisone(steroid) therapy.

So i started talking vitamin D after 6 weeks my wife noticed it was gone from my hands and my psoriasis cleared on my legs. After 2 months there was nothing left.

I stopped talking vitamin D and whaddya know psoriasis came back (not the eczema). 2 weeks of 5000iu vitamin D and its gone again.

From time to time i forget my vitD and it will reappear.

Triggers
STRESS
Hand washing with anti bacterial liquid or and sanitizers. Its instant eczema.

Dehydration, (keep potassium up if she drinks caffiene) it keeps your fluids balanced.

Diet, a poor diet or foods your sensitive can make you more prone.

I'm no expert. I looked like i had been dropped in boiling oil by my feet as a toddler. As an adult at about 30 it returned. From me feet to my belt line.

The docs tried, immuno suppressants, steroids, allergy shots/meds. On and on..

Vitamin D 5000iu daily
Lysine 500 mg daily
Potassium intermittent
Real sunshine without sunblock.

If i don't keep these up it comes back. Ive been free of it for 8 years. It really does work.

However hand sanitizer and liquid antibacterial soap will bring it back (eczema and blisters) within a day. Its painful especially if you get anything in those open blisters. Uhg!

It sounds like she has dyshidrotic eczema, and it's definitely associated with stress. Here is a link that may help:
nationaleczema.org...

Unfortunately, the constant hand washing is a factor when she's stressed.

I also just learned this about eczema. Check it out, this is an excellent website that taught me things I have not heard before.
Do you have the genes for eczema: sandyflann.com...

I have battled eczema all my life and am currently nursing a complete breakout all over my torso to the point it has been weeping through my tops. When I had it on my hands I found wrapping them in cotton strips very soothing and then the fingers wouldn't stick together. But, creams were always a hit or miss for me, mostly a miss as they seemed to aggravate the condition. Borage oil is wonderful for skin (pill orally), and one has to keep a constant layer of moisturizers on the skin where the breakouts are. Sweat is a huge factor for me and I get caught in a visious cycle. Personally, the one moisturizer that works for me is Hoofer's Choice nail cream. I slather it on and it doesn't irritate my skin and seems to nourish it. But, again that's just me. www.amazon.com...

I deal with psoriasis on my fingers. I actually am having a flare up at the moment. I went to the doc and got some steroid cream. It helps me after a couple of days.

Hot showers, hand washing, anti bacterial soaps and hand sanitizers will bring it back.

It just sucks

In addition to diet change, for treatment during flareups, try tea tree oil and soaps and/or coal tar soap and shampoo.

While stress related flareups can be hard to control, I sometimes get patches on my scalp, and I turn to a coal tar shampoo for a few days.

I make cold-pressed coconut oil; I shred it and put it into a solar dehydrator and then put it into a hand-cranked press.

About two years ago, a nurse at hospital came to our place and wanted to buy several jars. When I sell it, it looks like a jar of water. She said that she uses it as treatment for Eczema and Psoriasis for the elderly that are under her care, but that aren't in the Rest Home. That is, it's something that she does on her own, outside of Health Services Authority. It is her opinion that topically-applied coconut oil is the perfect treatment.

I know myself that I used to have a touch of eczema around the outside of my mouth. I started applying coconut oil and it worked. My Bride indicated that just smearing it around my mouth looked a tad creepy, so I began applying a liberal amount on my whole head. I shave my head, so I don't put it on so thick that I glisten, but it does soak into the skin, and smells good also.

Coconut oil is also antiviral and antibacterial and is good on wounds. My Bride and I drink about a tablespoon each day to keep us regular, and to help with various elderly ailments. ;o)

Coxsackie Virus (Hand Foot and Mouth Disease) can be common around children could it be possible it might be that?
The skin rashes will usually appear on the palms of hands and soles of the feet and they start off as flat red spots to develop just a couple days after the infection has been acquired, sometimes these spots will turn into painful blisters.

I have Eczema in one of my ears it really bothers me I have tried everything one day I had nothing to calm the itch and picked up my lip balm Carmex in the little yellow container dug some out and put it in my ear this was in July and my ear is almost completely healed I use it 2x a day and it helps greatly if I shower and forget to put it on in a matter of a hour I feel the dryness come back I will never be without it. Good luck to your wife.

Eczema is an internal issue aside from excessive harsh washing or weather exposure.

I have told many people about the fish oil suggestion. Some outright just ignored it.

Unless you are allergic to fish, what do you have to lose? Just freaking try it I say.

I have eczema and so do all of my children, without fail, fish oil has taken care of it every single time.
