Came across this just today and not sure if I'm thrilled or scared to death.

For those who can't watch, it is a video of a robot soldier with awesome skills.

This Bot takes some pretty good abuse and even shows recognition skills.

Pretty impressive really.

None of this is real though..But still cool......

Dude its corridor crew, it literally is CGI, no more no less. Does that mean the future will be any different, I dont know, just make sure you know where the off switch is

That is a scary video.

How would a person counter 'that'?

If a human was caught grappling with a 'real' adversary robot, you would want to tie it up with cables / ropes / adhesive / a net / whatever, to restrict movement first. Impacts, and even gunshots? Hmmm … yeah they look nice, but they don't do much against robots. What is the 'wounded' robot supposed to do: lose blood, feel 'pain', or 'bruise'??

This will be a reality, really soon and it's a larger step than atomic weapons with regard to humans racing toward their own destruction.

IT'S FAKE, CGI.

OMG. people, don't worry. This is not what you have to worry about.

It is robots but not big ones. Think Nanobot swarms with photo-ID targeting.

I love these videos.

lol

The robot abuse is pretty good. A door battering ram .....

lololol

It is going to be scary when they actually DO get to that point,
and I am sure they will.

At about that point you will start seeing hand grenade EMP weapons too..

We'll see AI in air/sea/space warfare before but soon after autonomous soldiers will come IMHO. Funny CGI

I don't know why they would even go through the trouble of making it human shaped, or bipedal. I don't think the real drones to replace soldiers will look like that at all. It will be about utility.

Haha given some of the replies so far, I think we NEED Artificial Intelligence sooner than later, because it's sorely lacking organically.. lol

Actually it's a bit more. It's a real dude that has CGI rendered over him. Just a little bit, but not much, more.

Is this the mockumentary sequel Of Chappie? Or Johnny 5.

I had a good laugh though. Pretty obvious where it was heading.

He sensationalized a bit, or a lot.

But really just make something that runs on wheels, or tank treads, add some weapons to it a gatling gun or two, maybe even a rail gun and sniper, make it armored and very maneuverable, hell a few missiles and a flame thrower equipped, and even something kind of like Johnny 5 from that old Short Circuit movie, only on steroids.

You can have it autonomous or to be remote controlled like a drone, either way.

A few thousandths of those, and most armies would stand little chance against them, most especially third world counties or anything that cant call in a rain down fire at will.

Hell if they took all the billions they spent in the middle east they could have just copy and pasted a whole bunch of johnny 5s, and ISIS would be toast easily years ago. And so would most nations foot armies.

Let just say that these guys, would stand somewhere in the negative numbers of a change against an army of Johnny 5s. And most modern army's boots on the ground, would not fare to well either.

Yeah they had the mo cap suit a little while now, I remember watching them do a transformer video, they had limited time with the suit though back then, these robotics ones (in OP) are far better
