Okay here's the content I'm referencing Breitbart - Houston Cop Shot

A Houston LEO gets shot with his own gun (losing control of it to a suspect he was pursuing) and the first thing out of the Police Chief's mouth is GUN CONTROL. We've seen this Acevedo guy before, he's one of Sheila Jackson Lee's "political supporters".

IMPLYING that since his cops can't control their own guns, maybe they - like everyone else in his eyes - shouldn't be allowed to carry them.
OBVIOUSLY that would be foolish for a Top LEO to imply.

Yet the conundrum remains: If your response to your LEO losing his gun is GUN CONTROL, there's been a schism between your perspective view and what the rest of call corporeal reality. If this is his emotional outburst induced by trauma, perhaps he sould get a more "snowflake friendly" job.

I propose a new form of gun control:
anyone who wants to take away my gun isn't allowed to own their own.

That way, when they finally go off the deep end and storm my home, they'll only have sticks and stones to contend with.

It's really messed up when the "chief" of police starts speaking out against firearms.
Obviously we can't depend on his crew to protect us- they can't even protect themselves from... themselves!

So what's the solution? Take away everyone elses protection?

Hah.
Hah hah.

Obviously the police should not carry weapons.

Better off training them in MMA or BJJ.

Here is Communist Arty with his Prog talking points on gun control almost a year ago.

Why doesn't he address policy makers on open borders?

He is all for a foreign invasion of our country as his support for sanctuary cities proves it.

It seems to be a new trend nowadays for cops to get their gun ripped away...
Hmmm... maybe this new generation of cops shouldn't be armed.

Well, using his logic.
This is a perfect example of why I need to keep my right to bear arms.

If I can't count a police officer to keep his gun, if I have to worry that criminals are going to be packing LEO's guns, I need the right to defend myself, with my own gun.

He needs to be voted out of office.

What is the liability situation when a ccw person loses their gun and it's used in the commission of a crime?

Well if you are a Police that loses your sidearm, is that not a big thing?

Frowed upon in the extreme?

If so that could offer up one possible reason as to failing to report the loss.

The folks at USCC would have us believe it's always bad for the gun owner.

It always depends - if taken by force like the LEO, your legal responsibility has been assumed by the assailant.

On the other hand shooterbrody's response points out that actual losing/misplacing or stolen guns, who WOULDN'T report it.

Thanks for the replies!

well that is a different question completely, isn't it?
I would wager it is more than your "frowed upon".
Police losing a gun and a citizen losing a gun are vastly different things.
nice try tho

Just offering up possible scenarios, must have been some reason for failing to report the loss.

I'm thinking possible embarrassment.

For police guns are not the biggest threat. Biggest problem seems to be utencils. I would say fork control would get a lot of support. put a ban on LE and forks.

The cop wasn't killed. The suspect was killed by another officer after shooting the first officer.

The chief can cry all he wants about gun control. But this sounds like "the best defense is a good offense." Blame everyone except the LEO who lost control of his firearm. The chief should be more concerned about his own officer's control (or lack of control) of his own gun. I'm not suggesting that the LEO did anything wrong per se; but something went wrong or the perp would never have gotten the gun.

No one can stop bad people from doing bad things. But it is possible to better train and prepare LEOs for such situations.

Seems like he doesn’t want to take responsibility for the clear lack of training the officer under his command had.
Or if the officer made a judgement error, he just can’t admit that sometimes mistakes happen and guns can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

I stand by the age old ‘guns don’t kill people, people kill people’.

If you disarm bad guys they’ll find a different weapon.
It really isn’t rocket science.
