I agree with your entire post, would be sweet if they had drones out gathering as much data as possible about the oceans. Put some solar power on em to help power some of the systems if that's even possible.

So, looking at this from a philosophical perspective...

It's only a matter of time before our war machine is fully automated, and so is the enemy's. Autonomous unmanned vehicles blowing up other autonomous vehicles. Autonomous soldiers marching ashore through the surf next to their autonomous amphibious tanks to seize and occupy land. Winning and losing will be defined on a computer screen and by the balance in a checkbook ten thousand miles away.

The good news; no blood shed. The not so good news; the realization that it was never really about blood, but rather money; it just so happened the human was the more efficient machine back in the day.

Interesting.

Well, it’s about power. There will always be people seeking it through corrupting others and using violence against the innocent. In these situations, there will be fewer deaths amongst those who intercede on behalf of themselves or others.

A fantastic thought indeed that killing people would not be an option in war. War becomes a game for the same high stakes, but we do not murder ourselves....

If we could just get all of the nukes off this planet, it sure would cut down on the inevitable collateral damage...
