a world tax is an absolute insane idea.

before you could even consider a world tax, you would have to insure everyone in the world has pretty much the same costs of living. as it stands now if you were to tax everyone in a progressive tax like mentioned in the OP, even someone in the US (or other rich country) who earns minimum wage and only works a few hours a week. a person who can not afford to live and needs government assistance (and you would even have to tax any government assistance, especially since many countries have nothing like that. you live on what you can earn even though you might be collecting stuff out of the garbage to sell to a junk dealer), would pretty much still be in the highest tax brackets. and on the other side of the coin, someone in another country who makes more than enough to live well on and likely even has servants in their home, would be paying in the lower tax brackets. seriously we are talking about a HUGE gap in both earnings and cost of living between countries. why do you think they make products in countries like India and China? because for far less than they would even have to pay at minimum wage in a country like the US, a person in those countries is actually earning a good salary. people in the US are wanting a $15/HOUR minimum wage, for say a job like McDonalds. because in many areas even that is not even enough to live off of. where in another country the same job at McDonalds pays about $10/DAY, and likely 10-12 hour days at that, and they are earning decent money. the exact same job and one earns $10/day and for the same hours worked (lets just use 10 hours because it's easy) at the same job in the US the person is being paid $15/hour will make $150/DAY. and chances are the person earning that $10/day is living even better than the person earning $150/day in the US. and yet the person in the US would end up paying a higher percentage of their earnings in taxes. in effect you would be taxing the poor, and giving it to the rich, based on what country you live in.

It has to be graduated taxes upon only discretionary income. Which it should be any way. No one should pay taxes on any of their income that is non discretionary. This is how it should be everywhere. The money it costs just to pay average mortgage, entry level dependable transportation, reasonable healthy food, clothes, education, and some minimal leisure. This cost, say 35k a year in most of the us, should be the starting point from which no taxes are levied. From there on up the tax can graduate higher and higher. Capital gains, interest, rents, monopoly profits should be taxed the absolute most. This base cost could be assessed for each region. That’s a good start.

Instead of taxation of the rich we should instead have creation of money. So for instance, of the $5.3 trillion dollars traded every day on the foreign exchange markets, have a world bank that creates 0.10% of that money out of thin air that has a forced equal parity rate of $1 USD. Essentially its the creation of equivalent per year of $1.975 trillion dollars. Which is about 2.47% of the worlds GDP. World wide inflation is about 3.2%. That money would then be used in all countries around the world for good purposes. Fresh clean water, food help, humanitarian needs, stopping desertification, cleaning up rubbish and pollution, helping to build infrastructure, sanitation, education, roads, railways, electricity, and can also be spent towards research and development, scientific experiments and facilities, mega projects, cleaning the oceans, rivers, replanting forests, etc. Projects for the good of humanity, and the good of the earth, creation of reefs, etc.
