Another thing and I can't tell you how many times I've done this but I'll find a hose clamp or perfectly good bolt or screw laying on the ground. I pick it up and it will be just what I need to survive or get on with my work another time.

Not anymore. I learned my lesson cleaning his garage this summer. I stacked everything that I thought could go to the dump beside the garage.
Not 10 minutes after he got home, EVERY SINGLE golf cart part was back in the garage, with a "friendly" warning not to touch them.
Message received.
And he doesn't touch my crap that I'm hoarding.
But I am not, nor will I ever be, at my grandmothers level. That woman had an 8 car pole barn, you could barely walk in. Everything from 4 brand new, still in the box dustbusters, to over 60 bags of material. Some worth nothing, some worth a mint.
And my uncle pitched most of it in the trash.
