Dear most humble mods I placed this in the space exploration forum as this pertains to such a venture. But if you feel that it should be moved please feel free to do so.

This will be a short thread as I have a meeting in a short while.

I don’t know about you guys but I often wonder how does one poop in zero gravity. Tis a fascinating subject and one that has proven to be very challenging. Well not to worry folks, for NASA has in the past reached out to us peasants about such an endeavor and how to overcome the challenges of pooping in space!

But before I post the link and a youboob video I would like to add that this is actually way more difficult than one may think. Remember gravity is our friend for such mundane functions. I for one am happy that those poops just fall right into the toilet.....I have missed before though, my momma told me to never lie.

NASA

Alright that is one interesting read I must say. NASA has a way with words LOL

Now if you would like some a bit more visual I have a video......And NO this is not some weird porn poop video. But this is funny and IS safe for work.

Well I think I have had enough laughter for one morning
. Off to a certain “safe space” that gravity and I can be together......I’m gonna take a poop now Incase you didn’t get it...

When I was in elementary school Scott Kelly visited and one kid suggested feeding velcro to the astronauts in order to stick it on the wall.

Everyone laughed, but no one disagreed.

Hopefully the mods dont blow an "ass gasket" and take down this fascinating subject.

Every time I go to see an astronaut presentation they always open the floor to questions. For some reason they always think it's cute to let a kid ask something, and they always, without fail, ask about going to the toilet.

I'm there with serious geek questions to ask and I am hearing the poop stories yet again...

Would it be possible to jettison the poop towards the sun at timed intervals each day or so?

The Space Station lines up correctly, Little billy pushes the big red button and thoomp!
A garbage bag full of reckoning rockets get sent towards the sun.

Sure it might take 5 or 6 years for it to get within melting distance, but - Out of site, Out of mind, right

Are saying that this issue should be left alone? Those kids may think it's funny(it is) but little do they know how serious this is.

That is actually a very good idea! I'm sure some obstacle would have to be overcome.

Haha I hope not. But if so just remember that a ton of info about this subject is on the webz.

It isn't that easy to fly into the Sun from Earth or Earth orbit. The earth is moving at 65,000+ mph in a direction sideways to the sun, and counteracting that sideways motion is difficult and would be required to not just go into a solar orbit.

It's Surprisingly Hard to Go to the Sun

It is actureally a really simple technique to defamations of bowel movements in space. It is rather expensive to todays economic values. I will not say because I will not help take micro gravity pooping to a serious factor, though I will say how it is harder to poop outside the box than within, it always seems to work though.

On a serious note, no one will figure this out for another few years, it is poopastrophic to how we venture toilet dwelling on a regular basis. I also think it will help evilution in the way virus & antibodies can replicate & reproduce. if determined in other statistical probabilities like how one can collapse self reprication into an art, just like a previous thread about photosynthises, though artificial photosynthises is only receptive knowledge in a distant future. I know that sounds a lot like far stretched pancake poo, it is troof.

P.S. I eat lies & defacate truth haha

Poopong in zero-g is fraught with many dangers, such as floating poop, fecal popcorning, and fecal decapitation (yes, the last two are actual space terms used on the Shuttle).

Apollo astronauts on their way to the Moon had to poop into plastic bags, and occasionally something would break free and start floating around. We even still have the transcripts:

~~~
On Space Shuttle, they used a loo with a lid that slides sideways. If you're not careful, closing the lid might sometimes slice the top of the poop off and send it flying (fecal decapitation).
After you've done your business, the poop is exposed to the vacuum of space, flash-freezing it and causing it to pop around (fecal popcorning).
~~~

This, and many other curious (and gross) aspects of human space exploration, can be read about in Mary Roach's cool book, Packing for Mars.
