A new way to utilize the debate forum

It occurred to me, watching the news/opinion shows that maybe there is an easier, more entertaining way to set up the debate forums.

Networks have pools of those on the left and those on the right. They usually call until they can get one from each side to argue a point offered by the host.

Why can't we do that here?

We have pools of people on the left and right with fighter labels already.


The mods pick the topic and then they find one from each side to debate it.

Easy-Peasy?

That is a great idea. But then again I think it would be great to have a Debate Mud Pit Forum, so what do I know.

What if you got stuck with Con in the debate?

The point is to place people who have already offered an opinion.

Change it up; dont tell the people which side they have to debate until the debate starts. Make it possible for people to have to debate an opposing viewpoint than the one they personally hold.

Never said he wanted to destroy it, only that he seeks to enslave humanity for his alien overlords.

Interesting idea and one I would love to see in action.

Made me think of something I thought of last Saturday watching football.
That idea was that all “news” anchors should be replaced with sports announcers!

Two totally different ideas though.

No change it up even more.

Debates can get really heated at times so how about this.

When mods have to step in the members concerned have to go into the debate forum but debate the opposite position. This would perhaps help them understand here the other side was coming from all along. To keep it interesting the loser gets a 1 week posting ban.
