Trumps in Fort Wayne, holy crap

Trump is speaking at the coliseum in Fort Wayne indiana right about now I suppose.
I live a little north of the town.
Anyway I have never been in a town at the time of presidents visit.
Totally amazing what takes place.
My wife works in Fort Wayne and she left work at about 515 and got home close to 630.
Normally that's about a 30 minute trip, maybe 35.

The reason is that the highway was shut down from the airport to the coliseum.
Security reasons most likely.
It would be interesting to see all the other security involved.

If anyone had any doubt about trumps popularity in Indiana they expect about 20k people to attend which is rather impressive since the building only holds 13k.
I know several people that were planning to go.

The crowds have been pretty-much unprecedented. I noticed last night (or was it the night before?), he asked the cameras to pan around so folks could see how huge the crowd really was.

I'd love to go to one.

I've been to one.
20 feet from POTUS with my son.
It was more exciting than any concert I've been to.

Went to the one in my City. There was electricity in the air and Loved it.

Security was unlike anything I've ever seen, reasonably so. Rumor i heard, that stuck out to me, was that many of the manhole covers and whatnot were welded shut.

They weld the manhole covers in time square during New Year's Eve so it wouldn't surprise me if they did the same thing when the president is near.

The online views are normally 3-5X's more. In Houston, the online views alone were almost 100K. It's basically a couple of sold out U2 concerts every rally. It's old school tactics. Lincoln, believe it or not use to draw massive crowds. He had a booming voice that could clearly be heard from long distances with no amplification.

I've been driving around KC when the POTUS or VEEP or wife of POTUS have been here in town for various admins.

It's weird to be tooling down the highway and see pairs of cops just sitting at every exit waiting for the signal to shut the road down and clear traffic preparing for the motorcade to come through from wherever.

I've been both right in front of a shutdown and right behind one. Only ever seen one motorcade, but I think it was only a congresscritter's.
