ATS and Cocaine

Not a major issue but I've been wondering something for a while. Why does the ATS censor put a space in the middle of coc aine?

It might have been explained somewhere in the past or it might just be an oversight. All I know is that it drives my inner grammar Nazi crazy.

Discussing drugs is usually taboo here. I’d imagine they don’t want the site coming up after certain words are used in a search engine.

I thought they had a good answer but its true what you say.

Is it MODS that do it or when you hit post it automatically makes the change?

Interesting if its only for that substance but not others.

The space is a simple way to represent the space left by missing brain matter in a coc aine user's brain.

An autopsied coc aine user's brain reveals severe damage to the neocortex - the center of logic.

The question has been raised a bunch of times over the years. SkepticOverlord waded on one occasion if anyone can find the post. It isn't a deliberate function of the site (like the #### auto-censor) either. It's some errant peculiarity of coding if I recall correctly.

...or just maybe he added it for the mischief value of unsettling those of us with OCD tendencies
