I've never heard that sound, but then again I never really listened for a specific sound. I'll keep this in mind in the future. We've had more than
just a few come directly overhead as they were developing only to touch down north or east of us. Had one touch down between us and the power lines,
which are less than 1/4 mile south of us. That one was plenty close.
The thing I've noticed most when tornadoes are around is the sharp temperature drop. It will go from scorching hot to jacket-cold in less than a
couple minutes.
