Tornado Alley!

So, tonight we've got weather. It comes and goes, but when it comes it's HAIL (BIG hail) and wind, and then rain.

It's funny about this time of year, It's always the same. ... BIG HAIL, tornadoes, drenching rain (which doesn't soak in). It's crazy.

And so there will be "Tornadoes" tonight. Our shelter is likely rattler infected, so we'll deal with that. A few minutes to clean them out, and then to take cover.

Life on the Eastern Plains....It's what it is. You either win or lose.

It's just the rules.

I’m assuming you have hail and tornado insurance ?

stuck between a tornado and a rattlesnake ... yea that sounds fun

Stay safe. The hail can do a lot of damage.

It's dark green, bordering on purple outside right now.

It's already hailed a couple times....but now, it looks UGLY outside!

The dogs thought they wanted to go outside, and then we let them out. NOPE!! NO WAY!!

Got some tough weather tonight...real tough.

Temps have dropped over 50 degrees F, it's chilly now...and dark purple. (105F earlier, now just 54F)

Love the rain, and the moisture, but it's hard to predict what comes next.

It's like that, out here.

Sweeping rains (we love that), but ominous clouds coming. (don't like that so much)

Radar looks ugly. And, so we wait.

Good Luck, only thing I miss about tornado alley is the stars. You get out in the right place in the plains and you'll see a sky you thought was fiction.

I'm in the mountains now, the humidity makes it feel as hot, but weather is rarely a concern...

I can still see some good sky light in the right places, but not with that endless view.

Contrast is the spice of life I suppose.

Oh God, anytime I see those words "Tornado Alley" I am remind of a horrific trip I took going to Chicago many years ago. Flew from Dallas, to Tulsa, to Chicago, and the entire trip was inundated with tornadoes all around us. I think there were a reported 12 that touched down just during my time in the plane. Up and Down, I had to go through, for a terrified flyer I wasn't drunk enough.

Grew up in ohio and spent some time in Missouri and ill be damned if tornado sirens didnt mean "grab a beer and run outside to see it" in both places. I had a close call in Missouri...just missed one crossing the highway ahead of me. I hit a patch of hail....musta been a foot deep....and spun off the road.

Ouch! once you see that green tinge...the words 'Run Forrest run!' comes to mind. Hopefully it will pass as quickly as it comes.

Despite looking pretty ugly (both radar and visually) didn't see or hear any tornadoes, around here anyway.

Got a nice amount of rain though!

Heh, yeah we call 'em the "Greenie-Meanies".

And that's what it was looking like last night, but fortunately nothing came of it.

'Going Green'.... Just like in Twister. That's what we call it in Minnesota... Going Green. Looks wicked. I have had a few close calls... it gets really dicey, when before a Tornado drops, you hear this 'sheering' sound. When you hear it... it sounds like a huge Sword being pulled from its Sheath.... I think it is a Roll Cloud turning into a Funnel.... I have heard 3 times in my life. Have you ever heard that when the Funnel Clouds roll over your head?

Any good recipes for rattler
Or are they not that tasty in a bunker
