Tesla's Musk alleges 'extensive' employee sabotage

Tesla Inc Chief Executive Elon Musk accused an employee of “extensive and damaging sabotage” to the company’s operations in an email sent on Monday to company employees.

Musk said an employee had made code changes to the company’s operating system and exported “large amounts of highly sensitive Tesla data to unknown third parties,” according to the email, which was obtained by Reuters.

Things are getting stranger and stranger behind the company. Corporate espionage has been going on for as long as there has been business, and many would profit from a status quo and seeing Tesla fail; but it is a very strange time, amid all the financial difficulties, to come up with these charges.

I'll be looking forward to seeing who may have had their fingers in the cookie jar... or not.

The company is investigating whether the employee “was working with any outside organizations,” the email said.

“As you know, there are a long list of organizations that want Tesla to die,” Musk wrote, listing Wall Street short-sellers, oil and gas companies, and car company rivals.

I guaran-*ing-tee you that some of the big oil and energy companies have been actively seeking ways to sabotage Tesla and Musk. Every time some technology comes around that would potentially reduce our reliance on gas vehicles, it gets bought off, killed off, or otherwise disappeared into history, never to be seen again. I'm personally surprised he even made it far enough to get some of those cars on the road. If it's not competition from the oil people, there's plenty of competitors that would be extremely interested in buying any information they could to create their very own electric car company - after, of course, Tesla fails, so they can suddenly come on the scene to save the day with the electric cars that DON'T burst into flames.

I'd look more at the alphabet agencies. They tend to do the best sabatoge work, both domestically and internationally.

Actually nothing would surprise me any more, really. I wouldn't be surprised if Elon Musk's head popped open and a little alien came out and started yelling at us,

"You stupid humans; I'm trying to give you free solar energy and self driving transport, cheap space flight and subterranean travel... and you want oil and coal! I'm taking the next light beam out."

interestingly enough Porsche and Lambo just released their new electric car models and they are pretty badass

I think that about sums up Musk's frustration with the world he is trapped in. The world could be 90% or more renewable and green within 20 years if we would just open up the field and let Musk and a handful of other geniuses play ball.

Those who held the ball and controlled the field have failed our environment. It's time we demand a change.

Or, he's not running his company properly and all the supply chain and payment problems are due to that.

Tesla has several problems, but I highly doubt sabotage is one of them. Tesla consistently gets dinged for bad quality, which outfits like Consumer Report mysteriously give them a pass on, because Tesla!!!!!! Also, the company is just plain badly run, burning large amounts of cash every quarter, and constantly failing to meet production goals.

The fires they keep hitting Tesla cars are really just due to the fact that Lithium Ion batteries are highly flammable, and really are a bad choice for something that will see a fair amount of abuse (like a car). But that's the technology Musk invested his money in, and Tesla doesn't have the resources to re-engineer its powertrain, so they're sticking to it, and claiming phantom saboteurs as an excuse.

Impossible. There's too much momentum now. The only way big oil can kill the trend is if they can make all the manufacturers fail.

You can expect to see robberies/carjackings spike up, precisely because it will be trivially easy to force a driverless car to stop, and due to liability concerns automakers will not give passengers the option to override collision avoidance systems.

For VIPs like the president, I imagine they'll always insist on trained human drivers for this very reason. They're going to want someone who can say "Eff it! I need to run that guy over and get out of here!"

I doubt it, if they wanted to do that they would have done years ago, not now, when all big car makers have or are creating electric and/or hybrid cars.

They are probably now buying mining companies specialised in lithium mines and things like that.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guys company, IMO. The way that jerk dissed pem fuel cells (aka, his competition) so hard years ago set that industry back by at least a decade.

I wouldn't be surprised that some millennial folks have not a clue what widespread use of Tesla cars would do to the electric grid nor a clue about why their electric bills would skyrocket by multiple percentages due line set, substation and power plant upgrades required for the load.

All for an idiotic car that goes maybe 150 miles, costs an exorbitant amount, battery disposal anyone? and one where YOU dont own software that make it run or stop, and, they can incinerate your butt in an accident.

Yup makes perfect sense - not!
