In the late 1980's, I was really into anything from the 4AD record label. One of the bands on that label was Wolfgang Press. Very Artsy but in your face kind of stuff - so not PC I guess. Also a little bit pre-house music I suppose. Anyway, if you have never heard them - here are some songs:
