It was so out of place he did nothing about ginger crying at the wedding on the phone with her pimp. He’s supposed to be the best gambling mind alive yet he lets a pedophile continuously corrupt his wife’s mind. Why wouldn’t he just hire a random gangster to torture him put a gun to his head and make him say the worst things humanely possible over the phone breaking Gingers heart. So bad in fact she would have no choice but to drop the thought of him and run to Ace for consolence. Which in turn could of turned into actual love which Ace sought so much from Ginger. It will never sit right with me and could of been so easy with that piece of filth of a pimp.

Ace loved her truly because he understood her truly. Yes he would get angry when she would fall for the pimps antics.

But he also knew..if he whacked the pimp..no matter how cleverly ..she would blame and hate him forever..

He kept that pos alive because he loved her..

Sometimes the heart doesn't make sense..

Love can turn the sharpest tool in the shed into a sledgehammer..turn the smartest amongst us into dullards..

Better yet, why didn't he just have him whacked? Ace was the golden goose for the mob. He could've made Lester disappear at a snap of his fingers.

Because ginger isn't an idiot..

And she would have never forgiven him..

She was living with practically made men..she knew how far the black hand could reach..it can pluck a life from the world just as easily as it gives certain folks a bubble to operate in..

If anything ever happened to that pos if it was natural causes or whatever..shed have blamed ace..

And ace knew it..

I agree he loved her completely, but that dude met her when she was 14 and they could of easily scared him bad enough to savagely break her heart over the phone. Staying away from her forever or the threat of death, he was a coward and we all know it’s not hard to break anyone’s heart with words. Depending on the measure of such could of equaled pure hatred for him from Ginger if done correctly.

You said it yourself.

He was a scumbag pedo pimp...

Nothing short of death would have stopped that sick bastard from trying to reach out to his ultimate trophy..

I do understand where your coming from , I do.. but let's not forget 2 of the three parties involved were drug addicts and the 3rd was love struck..

While Ace was the golden goose of the mob she was clearly his golden goose nothing would of kept him away aside from whacking him. It does make perfect sense now the more I think about it. There’s seemingly nothing he could of done without Ginger hating his guts. Although... he could of been made to say enough stuff the sight of him and Ginger would have had him shot. Think about what a pedo could potentially say to someone he manipulated all their life, with a gun to his head or a vice he could of turned her world upside down. Possibly giving Ginger the ability to see what’s he’s done to her and again loathing him.

I'll have to break out the DVD again and watch it with fresh eyes.

It's no goodfellas but that scene with Joe pesci stabbing that guy in the neck with a pen was a close second to the "I don't shine shoes no more" scene when they whacked Billy batts..

Thanks for the thread and the cordial discussion !

Right back at you sir thank you for your input and the discussion. Don’t forget about the scene where he pops the old lady in the side of the head with a .22 feels like a deleted scene from goodfellas.

You do know Casino is about real people right?

A lot of it is true.

Including his stupid love for her and her cheating.

I don't think he truly understood her, and that was part of the appeal to him. Sure he could track and calculate her actions, but only to a certain extent. She was a firecracker that could go off at any time. Ace's love for her was his only weakness, and his weakness for her is a metaphor for the adage of 'love is blind'.

Somewhere in the grande scheme of things, unrequited love was Ace's karmic fate. There was no escaping it.
