On Kim Jong Ill's RD birthday the state controlled radio compared him to a porcupine routing an "swaggering" American tiger. The further proclaimed thier leader as "undefeatable". In further developments South Korea indicated that there would be no large scale economic cooperation until the North dismantles its Nuclear program.

story.news.yahoo.com< br /> SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea marked the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il amid heightened nuclear tensions on Wednesday, comparing Kim to a daring porcupine routing an arrogant United States that swaggers like a tiger.

But South Korea dampened the Pyongyang's festive mood, saying there will be no large-scale economic cooperation until the dispute over the communist North's nuclear weapons programs is resolved.

North Korea flouted the international community last Thursday by announcing it had nuclear weapons and was staying away from international nuclear talks where the United States, China, Japan, Russia and South Korea have urged it to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

While on the surface, Kim's actions are right out of a comic book. If Kim were not the crazy leader of his country, Marvel comics would have competition. However, the tale of the porcupine defeating the tiger is an old Korean folktale and shows the level to which his propaganda machine works. Kim and his father used traditional Korean themes plus a Stalinist regime to keep control over the North. Most of his people are loyal and buy what we find amusing hook, line and sinker. Kim is also just crazy enough to believe his own propaganda.

"North Korea marked the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il amid heightened nuclear tensions on Wednesday, comparing Kim to a daring porcupine routing an arrogant United States that swaggers like a tiger. "

How sad but true that the struggle on the Korean peninsula has reached such lamentous proportions that the fallout from the original mess created by the Cold War and more specifically United States involvement has allowed the Rule of Law to be replaced with the Rule of Kim. Instead of consolidating democracy as should have been done 3 decades ago, the remains of autocratic rule has found a niche market under the clever guise of socialism in North Korea. The above comment rings true on a number of different levels and instead of dealing with more pressing concerns of the 21st century such as universal healthcare, spreading peace and prosperity, we are forced to deal with remnents of the ideological war-filled 20th century that continues to haunt us into the new millenium.

Whats the similarities between NKorea and Iran?
Opps, sorry, lets not go there. Wrong topic thread...

Yeah, good ole' Kim. Living it up "lavishly" as millions of NKoreans continue to die of starvation. Got an alledged bomb or two but can't feed a populance. Ironic, huh?

Do they even have Porcupines in NK? I think Kim has his own Baghdad Bob working for him. Next he will be say our Groins will be roasting in Hell.

But how bad can Kim be? It is said he has the largest collection of Daffy Duck Memorabilla. But then again it is also said he has a large collection of child porn.
