Yes, and they can implement a political will that may not be approved by/or wanted by the People.

Then again, I forget nobody in the UK thought it relevant to ever codify basic human rights like our magnificent founders did. (you know, like: the right to speak freely: including "hate speech", the right to keep and bear arms: including "weapons of war" for the sole purpose of destroying a tyranny at the People's sole discretion, the right to be secure in your homes/personal belongings, and be free from unwarranted searches and seizures or spying, the right to tell the government to piss off when they request you incriminate yourself: such as avoiding disclosure of encryption keys, or even the use of strong cryptography to prevent searches you don't explicitly authorize (the ultimate insurance against abuse) and so much more.

UK = socialist nightmare of a police-state. I would never live there, visit or conduct business with UK companies anymore than I would a Venuzuela, NK or any of the other tin-pot dictatorships out there.

Many thanks for the insights everybody . There clearly is a diametric juxtaposition in viewpoints on this matter but there is a question amrk over the extent of operational influence . NB wiki changes
