Active shooter in Reno (confirmed)

Emergency crews are responding to an active shooter call at the Montage at 255 N Sierra Street. Police have closed down 2nd Street and Commercial Avenue. We'll post more information as it comes into our newsroom.

it's in a casino and they have an entire street blocked off with reporters reporting shots still being fired

I hope it's been quarantined but I'm assuming there is going to be casualties.

this from Reno police department sounds like the event has concluded and they are now only "investigating" what happened

2nd Street, Sierra, 4th St., Commercial Row, and adjacent side streets are closed while #investigation continues. #Detour until further notice.

the news reporter says there was a shooter shooting from an elevated position staying tuned

the news reporter just said they have heard sporadic shots over a period of time no one knows what's really going on

apparently they are negotiating with the suspect he has been located not sure if there is hostages

they said apparently we do not have any injuries that's good

this has happened enough times now where local police departments are trained for it it seems

no hostages, police are negotiating

at least he will only be ending his own life is he chooses

Prayers were answered apparently, or this was the natural result of professionals doing their job. Or maybe a little of both..

The Montage is a condo complex, and seems the shooter has been shot by police.

Doesn't look like the Vegas situation at all.

RPD put the effer down before my government class was over.

Hell of a job RPD.

Little info for those who don't live here.

The Montage(where this happened) is in downtown Reno on Sierra street. It is a condo building with units starting at 200k and moving up into the millions. It appears he was shooting from the condo and down into the street.

Don't know what could have triggered this incident, but I hope we can get that information by tomorrow morning.

RPD is one of the best police forces in the nation for its size.

Generally they are well trained, extremely professional, and our city is small enough that it isn't hard to get to know them. We have a good community here and good cops.
