I came across this blog by a Russian lady who tells about life day to day in Russia, what struck me we are told that Russia is just about third world, but shock horror what if what the MSN is saying is about Russia just is so biased ...to the point where significant sectors of life re the standard of living in Russian Federation are on Par or better than the west. Of course the standard of living for the average western guy isn't so hot these days. But I see a lady running around in a Mercedes her and her husband have jobs and they buy on line because its cheaper. Check this out.

We are lied to about many things that other "lesser ism's" are all about. In this case we are told communism is horrible and everyone is starving.

In the US we have a large number of people who can't afford the basics and are gov't assistance. Capitalism has many short falls, look at for profit health care.

We need net neutrality to get this pith off the web.

One of my go to sites for info is NEO ... Most of what they write about looks nothing like the western MSM and you get a complete different picture .

In terms of dealing with some of the world’s harshest weather conditions no country comes close compared with Russia. Now Russia has made it a highest priority to develop a Northern Sea Route along the Russian Arctic coast to enable LNG and container freight shipments between Asia and Europe that will cut shipping time almost in half and bypass the increasingly risky Suez Canal. China is fully engaged and has now formally incorporated it into its new Silk Road Belt, Road Initiative infrastructure. journal-neo.org...

If you go to you Tube and watch some of the dashcam videos from Russia, you see all manner of cars in and around the bigger cities, most not so shabby. The average Russia car owner seems on a par with much of the West. 'Course, out in the hinterlands Russia has many, many dirt poor villages where animals still pull the carts.

I wish we still had wooden doors for one hundred euro . They costs twice where I'm living.

I don't know what the regular income for a Russian citizen could be so I can't really compare if it's expensive or not.?

You're right AE. Similar conditions in China, India, Iran, etc...
We are being spoon-fed propaganda.

The citizens of those countries are our brothers and sisters.
Our common enemies are the Banksters, international corps, and all of their sucky little lap-dog politicians, entertainers, pro-athletes, and BS leaders, that they shove down our throats.

The American crony capitalism is about driving out competition with legislation. Once you have a cartel or monopoly you can charge whatever you want for lesser quality. It's not about serving people. Just look at generic drugs. What a scam!

Agreed.

Anti trust laws need to be applied to many many companies that are using unfair business practices. I think Trump maybe starting with Amazon and/or Google with some of his "hires".

It sure as hell wasn't great when I was in St. Petersburg and Moscow a few years back.

Anyone can make a video and show only the "nice" parts of a city in order to push an agenda. I could go to Detroit and Chicago and make you think it was the world's cleanest, safest, most beautiful city in the world.

The facts are:

1. Russia's GDP is same size as Italy's

2. Apple (the iPhone people) as a company are worth more than Russia's entire stock exchange.

3. Russia is facing a massive population decline by 2030, so much so the government has sanctioned holidays where young people are encouraged to make babies.

Russia wants American conservatives to think it's a paradise over there. Of course they're going to show you the prettiest bits and play it up.

Trust me, it's a crumbling rust bucket and a joke of a former superpower. About the most redeeming quality are the little bliny stands that make these little potato pancake things. Oh and the all the booze. I suspect you have to be/stay drunk all the time to live there. I know I'd probably just stay drunk if I had been forced to work out of St. Petersburg.

And they all have the fanciest, newest cell phones too.

Then you go back to their homes with them. Fridges that don't get cold. Elevators that don't work. There's a reason they still use a lot of gelatin in Russia, you can preserve stuff without a fridge. It was popular here in the USA way back...in the south they called them "aspic" dishes. They're still pretty common in Russia.

If you saw the homes these people with "nice fancy cars and expensive phones" went back to live in, you'd realize it's all for show. Outward appearances. I was amazed at how everyone wanted to "appear" to have money.

Russia was the most hood rich place I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot of cities...

The Russians aren't Communists anymore. They are technically a Socialist Republic. Regardless, people need to stop worrying about what other people have and start taking care of their own business.

I'm watching a bunch of videos, and everything in Russia looks very bland. I noticed in the video in the O.P. that the lady had to put a coin in the shopping cart before it would unlock. It looks like Russian trolls frequent Russian websites as well as American ones, making sure that everyone's views align with what the Russian government wants people to think.

Most countries have a vast contrast in living standards. Gated estates and a

few miles away slum dwellings.

In Mumbai India a billionaire has a whole high rise block to himself .....Two

floors are for car parking, another floor has a swimming pool, various family

living quarters, servants quarters a roof garden .......

and then when its dark there are people sleeping on the streets in doorways on

low walls.
