No, no, no...I said, IL is mostly safe. I'm using the maps in the Forbes article to gage. Can't tell how much of the lakefront will be inundated. Did you know, there was a tsunami on Lake Michigan some time waaaay back?

Southern IL is soooo interesting. I went hiking at Giant City State Park...talk about WOW! Some great rock formations created by large amounts of water. A woman I know had a dream early this year about the flooding of the Mississippi in the Little Egypt area. I also heard that there is a mysterious pushing up of soil under the Mississippi River causing the river to be shallow. At this moment, barges are charging 3x the cost for transporting the likes of soy beans. Anyway, this mysterious up-welling is occurring near the New Madrid fault, in addition to drought. Can't find any further info except there is dredging underway.

It's not the end of the world, just a release of built up pressure and rearrangement of the plates. It has happened, apparently, many times, and sadly to an entire village while the residents slept. And then there's Pompeii. Science shows we are heading for a mini-ice age and I wonder what might decrease sunshine. Buckle up, Baby! And maybe get a generator.
