Space Exploration is a dying business the people are realizing the fasaud they're not really benefiting society or humanity at all.

Many aspects of our modern life benefit from (and sometimes depend on) spaceflight. Exploration of the Solar System will always have a place in public consciousness and scientific interest.

Ultimately we develop the tools to control our solar neighbourhood (fast propulsion and long endurance missions, outposts) or we will get whacked and go extinct. The difference between us and the other species on the planet is we could do something about it, we just can't be arsed.

It's a cool idea but I'd hate to see some kind of irony come out of this.

Pool ball effect. Knock away a small asteroid only for it to later connect with a ELE asteroid that posed no harm to Earth whatsoever knocking it into a unavoidabe collision course with us.

Humanity has done as you postulate already in other solar systems....there are as many types of humans as there are birds fish or insects.
