Red Mercury?

Does any one here fancy trying to explain what red mercury is?...it seems to be a product manufactured from normal mercury and can be used in nuclear fusion?
The information on the internet seems to point to it having an almost 'mythical' style status and doesnt really tell you its point of manufacture other than linking it to weapons of destruction?

Im sure some one here can put it into laymans terms for me?
