This should be really upsetting to Trump supporters, another one of their key reasons for supporting him isn't going to happen. Trump DOJ decides not to prosecute former IRS Official who was accused or "persecuting" tea party groups applying for tax free status. It sounds in the article like there isn't any evidence to prosecute her, how surprising. Just like Benghazi, this was probably just a republican witch hunt all along with no real basis.

It may be the results of a deal made with her . She will always have to wear her clown suite as far as public opinion is concerned and her political career may end up being none existent in the future . Now what did DT get in return ?

That's the sad truth.
But, a very large number of personnel resigned, retired and transferred completely out of the IRS.

Truthfully, I think that was the deal all along, everybody leaves with benefits and nobody goes to jail or gets in trouble.
That's D.C. at its finest.

Yes because we all know how horrible life is for Scooter Libby now. And Oliver North. John Poindexter was just ruined after the Iran-contra affair.

We should all know by now that scandal in D.C. really doesn't ruin people.

My guess is that the DC establishment would be willing to make a exception in a Trump case . He doesn't seem to be a part of that family at all and may have set back their plans many years . Maybe long enough for the majority of Americans to see and know what the real deal is ...Trump may just be someone to buy the people enough time to educate themselves .

It doesn't matter what Trump does or doesn't do at this stage of the game. His supporters will defend him because it's a cult of personality with Trump essentially in the role of guru and not liable to the laws of ordinary men.

Trump is almost an iconic religious figure to his die hard fans; like moses leading the masses to a political promised land.

President can not decide on who to prosecute and who to not. This foundation is in the constitution, as separation of powers.

But, it is a very discomforting news from DoJ - and this sounds like it being run by Obama folks.

Strangeness in the air.

The reason they can't nail this on Lois Lerner is because the DOJ (Eric Holder) was the biggest instigator of this abuse.

Remember when the King Street Patriots were audited, visited by the FBI four times and then the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms?! There wasn't a federal agency we have that didn't harass that group and only the DOJ could have directed all of that!!

Yea because the tea party wasn't actually persecuted... it was all BS in the first place.

It doesn't take Batman or Sherlock Holmes to know if you have an anti-taxes group who runs a potential tax shelter.. you might should check their books...

Say the tax rate is 25%... that means on 100k I keep 75k and pay 25k in taxes..

If I give a charity that 100,000$ And they give me back 80k and keep 20k.

Then I just made 5grand while they got to keep 20k untaxed.. which makes it PROFITABLE to donate..

Aka tax evasion and fraud.. What the IRS is checking for..

So is it AT ALL surprising the anti tax groups get closer scrutiny from the tax police?!?!

It doesn't take a political shill or biased party to know you should prob check the anti tax group a hair more.. that's just common sense..

What I want to know is why the GOP base keeps believing these conspiracy theories, when a GOP led congressional committee will investigate it and find no wrong doing..

Then they still believe the next conspiracy without question..

You mean spouting crazy conspiracy theories that have been constantly debunked. As well as an unhealthy serving of demagoguing logical fallacies..

Aka things that sound good but mean nothing .. such as "make America great again."

And let's not forget the just blantant hypocracies involved in bashing obama for playing golf. Then literally breaking the record for vaction days playing golf. In under a year..

Oh plus basing obama for saying in Iraq/Afghanistan . Then doubling down on staying himself..

Oops almost forgot prosecuting Hillary.. lol..

The only thing trump has done is gut the EPA, and if you think that will be remembered well as we continue to destroy the planet.. lol.. just lol..

There's still some ongoing actions happening.

And remember the IRS admitted to the targeting.

Lois Lerner was just following orderz.

[May 10 2013]
IRS admits targeting conservatives for tax scrutiny in 2012 election

[Aug 21 2017]
Judge orders IRS to reveal who took part in Tea Party targeting

and don't forget Lois is in Contempt of Congress

When someone makes a deal, they do not say "there wasn't any evidence against them.." they say they cut a deal..

The GOP doesn't try to keep a secret that hurts the democrats and validates their narrative..

They don't tell a lie that makes their narrative look fake, if their narrative had been validated..

They were lying when they said the IRS was targeting people, now they are hoping no one remembers their BS..

Spoken by someone who never read the Inspector General's report that led to Lois Lerner admitting abuse and resigning before it was released to the public.

It's ironic that the side that claims they are for smaller government and less taxes happily throws away their money with investigations that have no merit.

"We found no evidence that any IRS official acted based on political, discriminatory, corrupt, or other inappropriate motives that would support a criminal prosecution. We also found no evidence that any official involved in the handling of tax-exempt applications or IRS leadership attempted to obstruct justice," The Kadzik wrote. "Based on the evidence developed in this investigation and the recommendation of experienced career prosecutors and supervising attorneys at the Department, we are closing our investigation and will not seek any criminal charges."

Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said in a statement, "Today, the Justice Department confirmed the same conclusions we had years ago. Over the past five years, Republicans in the House of Representatives have squandered literally tens of millions of dollars going down all kinds of investigative rabbit holes – IRS, Planned Parenthood, Benghazi – with absolutely no evidence of illegal activity."

All of these investigations DO have merit, but no one wants to prosecute because the corruption runs so deep and goes so far back. If you prosecute one, you have to prosecute them all and there's no way to do that. There's proof of IRS targeting and abuse that goes back to the days of Bill Clinton, and possibly further. How do you possibly hold one person responsible? Unfortunately, the fact that we don't ever hold anyone responsible has made corruption run rampant to the point of no return.
