For all the nonsensical babble about supebowl NWO messages, and pentagrams in windows, I cant believe noone has mentioned this.

Bush has said his budget will assemble federal resources for war, domestic security and other priorities and cull inefficient or redundant programs. Administration officials have said he will hold overall nondefense spending — excepting domestic security — to less than next year's expected 2.3 percent increase in inflation, meaning the programs will lose purchasing power.

At same time he sticks up his middle finger to farmers, small business owners and schools. Hes made cuts all the way across the board. Defense and military? All they want and them some.

did you forget this one .... or just picking and choosing what to read and post..

Bush will seek about 5 percent more, or about $600 million, for the $12.8 billion program for low-income area school districts. Last year, he requested a $1 billion increase.

hmmm here's more good news...

Community health centers would grow to over $2 billion, an increase of $304 million, or almost 18 percent, over this year. Bush said he wants to every poor county to have one of the centers, which are used heavily by the poor.

When bush made the proposal budget but 2005 he had in mind the elections so the budget was enough to satisfy the crowd that was going to give him the vote.

Now elections are over Bush last legacy before leaving the white house will be a give away of our SS to investment firms as the ones his father favors, he already has his payback.

Bush is in his last term so now he is going to show his true colors to the American people.

Including the ones that gave him the vote.

How about economic development to help poor counties not be poor anymore? Hes putting a bandaid on a bullethole.

Although I am not too thrilled about the new budget and do see many flaws I do not think Bush sat down with a plan in his head to "screw over American's". We should not be surprised that the current governtment would increase military spending considering our military is spread out all over the world these days. Yes some good programs including grants to law enforcement were cut and that will hurt but we all gave a lot of money away to Asia after their horrible events. Lets see how this pans out in the next year as at the rate we are going with "friends around the world" we may have so many enemies that we will need all the military defense we can get.

Yes, we need a well funded military. No doubt about that. But instead of throwing us further into debt, maybe we should worry about building up our own economy again, and the money would be there. This is going to be a good fight, but Im sure the democrats will cower down as they always do. I feel sorry for whomever is elected after him. He/She is going to have a helluva job to clean up..

Bush would slice a $600 million grant program for local police agencies to $60 million next year. Grants to local firefighters, for which Congress provided $715 million this year, would fall to $500 million.

There you have it for the inner city and public work.

He would eliminate the $300 million the government gives to states for incarcerating illegal aliens who commit crimes.

There you go for the security in your neighbordhood.

The Environmental Protection Agency's $8.1 billion would drop by $450 million, or about 6 percent

The next time you go fishing do not eat the fish it may kill you.

The Bureau of Indians Affairs would be sliced by $100 million to $2.2 billion.

Let’s keep the children dump but we are going to educate the Iraqi children.

The $2.2 billion program that provides low-income people -- in large part the elderly -- with home-heating aid would be cut to $2 billion.

The AARP are going to have a good time with this one, and what can I said they are already poor it can not hurt taken away some more of their benefits.

This is part of the “faith base programs” that he is encouraging from churches in communities.
And it falls on the discretion of the individual governments to give away money as it see it fit.

No, it said local police agencies, not metropolitan police agencies. Nothing to with inner cities.

Why Marg? Are immigrants more likely to commit crimes? Crimes are crimes, regardless of who commits them. You want security in your neighborhood? Eliminate laws create "victimless crime" Half of law enforcement spending goes to stopping people who hurt only themselves. That doesn’t leave much for murderers, rapists and child molesters. Stop trying to throw money at a broken system, stop the knee jerk reactions to social problems.

The next time you go fishing do not eat the fish it may kill you.

You tell me what they are doing to fix environmental problems right now. When the EPA was created, the quality of air was getting better, and fast. As soon as the EPA was created, that stopped, and it more or less leveled out. Sound like something you want to keep throwing your money at?

Let’s keep the children dump but we are going to educate the Iraqi children.

What the hell does the BIA have to do with children? OK, I get it, you must be talking about when the BIA pulled my grandfather from his parents and sent him to a protestant school for Indian boys, cut his hair, put him in slacks, told him his parents were savages and refused to let him practice his religion or speak his language. Oh, that Bureau of Indian Affairs! Yeah lets throw more money their way, us injins need more control, we need the BIA to make sure we only devote 10% of language training in our schools to native language (because it is extra-curricular, a foreign language!) and 90% to English. None of their damn business. They are culture killers, and they don’t deserve anyone’s money to help keep them in business. They are just as bad now as 100 years ago, just a little more PC. Educate yourself before you open your mouth to things you know nothing of!

The AARP are going to have a good time with this one, and what can I said they are already poor it can not hurt taken away some more of their benefits.

What, the great and powerful social security program isn’t enough to even keep them warm? Well then, let’s just keep it, and make extra programs to fund what it fails to do. Sound fiscal ideas there.

Do you know this for sure? Even so, it is not his denomination he wants to see in the communities. As you said "Churches in communities." That means their own churches. Not that I am for giving any tax money to any church, just don’t spread falsehoods in the name of your ideology.

Think things through. You seem to have a tendency to make knee jerk reactions to things you don’t like on the surface. Think with your head and not your heart, and you will do more good for those you wish to stand up for.

Tell me Marg, why is it you dont feel qualified to invest your own socal security monies?

Cavescout do not be so hard on Marg, Up here in Wisconsin alot of SS money goes for Winnebagos (keeps Wisconsinites working!). And don't forget all that money the Gray Hairs spend in our local casinos. Where would the casinos be without SS and our union run public school systems educating our mathematically challenged. Forgive Marg, I hear she is hot.

I applauded when budget cuts were announced. The government subsidizes and funds too many things it has no business funding anyway. Be thankful that Bush is president and not me.
I'd abolish the departments of education, HUD, and agriculture to begin with.

Well, I'd also abolish the SEC, privatize the US post office, privatize AMTRAK (if it could even be done successfully), work to phase out Social Security, Welfare, Medicaid, and Medicare. Better?
