A high ranking official of the Justice Department now says they are not really going after "journalists" in their efforts to quell the leaking problems.

DAJ Rod Rosenstein made the statement on TV.

He kinda suggested that "journalists" are just doing their jobs.

Sighs of relief are ringing in all the newsrooms today !!

But he also said if "laws" are (or have been) broken, look out !

U.S. Justice Department not looking to charge journalists for leaks: official

One of the top officials at the U.S. Justice Department said Sunday that the agency's heightened focus on policing leaks of classified information is not intended to put journalists in legal jeopardy.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein emphasized that the department's renewed effort to prosecute leaks of classified information is not aimed at the news media.

"We're after the leakers, not the journalists," he said on "Fox News Sunday." "We don't prosecute journalists for doing their jobs."

I wonder if Julian Assange is breathing easier today . He could probably enjoy a walk to a park and sit at a bench for a spell .

Bush and Obama persecuted whistle-blowers.

Did we really expect anything different from the Trump administration?

This statement has that smell to it. Ya know ... like hypocrisy. Like ... the law only applies to a select few ... and, "You're gettin' a pass."

Makes one wonder who this guy Rosenstein is and exactly how many sides of the fence he sits on.

You mishandle classified information ... you go to jail. That's the way the law is written and it doesn't matter if you have security clearance or not. Journalists do NOT fall into some protected class where classified information is concerned. You put your hand out and take it ... you've broken the law.

Now I ask, "What the Hell did Rosenstein mean?"

Isn't that the guy that wrote the report to give to Sessions that got Comey fired ? ...

This is nothing new and brings to mind the Valerie Plame scandal. She was a covert CIA operative who's cover was blown after Karl Rove (Deputy Chief of Staff), Scooter Libby (Chief of Staff to VP Dick Chaney) and Richard Armitage (Deputy Sec. of State) leaked her identity to the press in 2003 during G.W. Bush's stint in the Oval Office.

These were leaks not from some low-level aide in the WH -- but from some very big guns within the Bush administration.

Leaks done as a matter of retribution for an op-ed piece her husband, Joseph Wilson (a former diplomat) had written for the NYT expressing his doubt about the purchase of uranium by Saddam Hussein prior to the Iraq war.

Old news, yes. But, as far as leaky White Houses go...

Relevant, nonetheless.

Hmm. Yes that top law document we all know and love...( though some obviously know it better than others...)
Called the constitution guarantees us freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
Kind of a no brainer.
Unless you actually have no brains... yikes ....

Not you snarl. I re read that and realized it may sound like I'm writing about you personally.
So no. Not you. Lol. Peace.
