Posting and thread contributions at the bottom of a page

Hi, this is only a silly question/observation type topic so general chit chat seems appropriate.
I've started to be of the opinion that when a thread is at the bottom of a page (to me, anything when the scroll bar is smaller than an inch on my laptop) the replies become like a barren desert.
Personally I don't mind my replies lost at the bottom of a page, but for sure the amount of replies I'll get are fewer.

That said, when someone tips it over to a new page the replies come thick and fast again. So, honest question, does anyone have any ideas why this seems to be the case to me, or perhaps you think I'm imagining it?
All thoughts welcome, I just shared my thoughts for friendly chit chat, shallow and silly maybe, but lighthearted break from politics lol.

I've noticed it sometimes.
I suspect that many people are responding at the same time, particularly in busy threads so a post gets missed.

Its also clear to me that some of the longer posts and threads haven't been read in their entirety. I'm seeing posts on the third or fourth page repeating posts from page one which were obviously not read.

Maybe some are only responding to the OP.

If its the Mud Pit you'll notice two or three just want to argue amongst themselves so all other posts are ignored.

I shy away from the mudpit generally!

I admit it - I don't tend to post on something if it's near the bottom of the page, and instead wait for the page to "turn" so to speak.

"Bottom of the page syndrome" is real.

I tend to avoid posting in The Pit, too, but I read many more threads than I post in. I might star the odd post if its worth it but if you responded to everything you wanted to, you'd never get off the site. Reading all this stuff takes enough time as it is.

I do like the odd star, though, if only so I know my post was read by at least one person.
I'm not bothered about collecting them. I don't know where the totals are kept because I do most of my stuff via my phone.

Its most disheartening to go back and read additional posts to a growing thread and find you're the only one without.
