Russian trained and equipped Desert Hawks deploy the latest T-72B3 tanks against Islamic State

T-72B3 is the latest of the T-72 series of battle tanks. Equipped with Kontakt-5 ERA and thermal sight. T-72B3 entered service in 2013. It is the newest tank to enter service with the Russian army. Overall, it is said to be on par with M1A1 in terms of capability.

Our new M1A2s come equipped with eyesafe laser range finder. Accurately and quickly ranging the target and getting off the first round is like getting to hit your boxing opponent square on the chin while he's still putting on his gloves.

SAA operated T-72B3 shoots ATGM at the 0:04 mark. Unlike western tanks which only shoot unguided rounds, Russian tanks shoot guided rounds for long distance attack and unguided rounds for short distance attack. ATGM range up to several kilometers.
