I suppose now there is an investigation as to whether she sent information to a foreign government.

She was at "Sweet Tea" or Fort Gordon.

It is possible there could be a FISA warrant, then or now.

She didn't work for the government, she worked for a private company which contracts for the government, however the search warrant does say:

WINNER is a contractor with Pluribus International Corporation assigned to a U.S. Government Agency facility in Georgia. She has been employed at the facility since on or about February 13, 2017. From January 2013 until her employment with Pluribus International Corporation. WINNER was an active duty member of the U.S. Air Force and held a Top Secret clearance.

The warrant also says the email address used was, "[email protected]," so it wasn't a .gov domain.

It sounds like she was in the air force for 4 years and went straight into contracting work with Pluribus after discharge.

The arrest warrant talks about her admitting to it and knowing that what she did was wrong when she did it. She was not cleared to access the document but did so anyway.

Wasn't she in a government building even though she was a contractor. I know she wasn't a US government employee.

I see you did track down supposed the email.

Air force 6 years.

edit:

If she sent the email from a gov network then headers would show it.

It sounds as though she snail mailed the documents but must have corresponded with the Intercept by email also.

edit:

She could have emailed the Intercept from some where other than work but the fact she had the email account in question accessible from work would be a give away that it is her account.

This boys and girls is why there are so many anonymous sources. Its really really easy to figure out when people leak documents instead of just words.

This is also the reason Publishers need to be held to account for publishing secret material that was "leaked" to them. If you stopped the publishing they would stop leaking it.

I've seen a few good smart in the know come to the same conclusions.

For a comparison of events I would suggest people
look into John Kiriakou, prosecuted under Obama.

This Winner story is child's play comparatively speaking.

I Have zero doubt this is in some way a set up.

Zerohedge is a Russian disinformation outlet; naturally, they want to undermine the idea that Russia was trying to influence the election.

I remember another time a contractor leaked a lot of classified info to the media and ATS seemed really pleased about it then.

I wonder what the difference is, hmmmm...

She a 25 year old woman?

Interesting question

I am curious about the gmail account they used to narrow the search.

Did the intercept give them the address and/or how did they find it on her desk top? I would think they would have to look at sent email to see the Intercept recipient.

I would think most people use gmail from a browser with imap so the mail isn't on the desk top, like with a pop3 account.

Was there a bookmark for mail that they clicked on opened mail on Google? The alias was in the bookmark? Cookies? So that if gmail is started the alias is shown.

Just seems odd. I don't use gmail on a regular basis so maybe someone else has an insight.

This whole affair is starting to make WL looks pretty good as a platform now.

Her work computer was on a secure net, not a regular
Internet. SIPR.net. Everything is logged.

Reportedly, she used her work computer to access
her private email.... another trail to follow.

Make sense. She just handed it to them via her actions. So their investigation was probably just checking the logs.

Not the best person to be working in intelligence, it seems.

Nope, definitely not the brightest tool in the shed.

She snail-mailed the printed doc to the reporter.

Reporter goes to govt agency, "hey I got this stuff..."
Govt, "nah, it's fake...but if you report on it could you redact thus and such..."

Government then does it's thing (narrows down to 6 people who accessed and printed this report, finds logs showing her emailing the new organization the reporter works for, finds snail mailed letter with postmark from town dingbat lives in, interviews dingbat (who cops to the whole thing) and hey presto change-o we have ourselves a leaker)

Here we are today in Winner's reality...

She is a patsy... if she even exists. Her languages place her on the "Afghanistan Desk." She would probably not have been able to access a "Russia" report unless it was fed to her.

Right. And not that I am for leaking classified information,
but what she leaked was not even worth much.

Nearly all the info on that report was published
by news outlets last year.

I suppose we might learn more tomorrow after her detention
hearing. She has retained a lawyer, who is going to try
to get her bail.

...unless it was fed to her.

According to the warrant, this was done of her own volition.

The warrant says she searched it out on her own and was not cleared to access the document:

17. On or about May 9, 2017, four days after the publication of the classified report, WINNER conducted searches on the U.S. Government Agency's classified system for certain search terms, which led WINNER to identify the intelligence reporting. On or about May 19, 2017, WINNER also printed the intelligence reporting. A review of WINNER'S computer history revealed she did not print any other intelligence report in May 2017.

18. At all times relevant to this affidavit. WINNER has maintained an active Top Secret clearance. The U.S. Government Agency confirmed that although WINNER had the required access to search for and view the intelligence reporting, the information contained in the intelligence reporting is unrelated to her job duties, and WINNER therefore does not possess a "need to know."

Her booking photo is very unflatering:

Of course, most are.
