Browsing ATS today is funky experience. You can get all sorts of strange adds popping.

well... all I can say is I am glad you didn't say "Popping UP"...

is it the companies that orchestrate the ads just not caring? (dodgy if you ask me) or are advertisers just changing accepted content to be this.

Similar here in the UK, I left an email for the staff in case they have not realized what is happening, here in the UK if anyone not logged into the site come's to browse it is simply not possible for them to browse because there is a full screen black out overlay that hide's the thread's, leave's the main banner visible so that members can log in but effectively partition's the site off from the general public and make's it a no go zone for non members almost like the site is being censored illegally by someone.

You click on the site and are taken to the intro page then when you click latest as most of us do before logging in you are taken to the latest thread's page but before you can browse a black banner covers the screen and margin's leaving the advert's and the main bar visible but completely hiding the threads and there is now way to then close this banner blank black obscuring banner which is occluding the thread's and also any thread page you DO managed to click on but if you log in it then does not show at all.

New members will be few and far between because of this if it affect's them in other country's as well and membership will drop off as this censorship prevent's them from browsing the site, other site's referencing ATS will also become few and far between because those site's members will also not be able to read the references post's.

I don't think this is an advert at all, the advert's remain untouched, the main ATS banner remain's untouched but the black veil is devoid of any advertisement itself and simply block's the ATS data from being read or accessed.

And that is why I use something to block adverts. Yesterday for some strange reason my 'device' got disabled and I was in shock at the amount of adverts. It's nearly impossible to find any article under all the blinking, colourful, in your face advertising.

Where is the law that I HAVE to put myself and my laptop through any of this?
Who gives advertisers their 'godlike' status?
I know it's money, but there has to be some kind of regulation. Instead of a wild west, all goes vblinking 'click me- click' me nightmare?

It's beyond a farce what advertisers get away with and if you say anything or try to do something about it, you are treated like a criminal. "Bow before the gods of goods and their money, you annoying peasant thief of bandwidth...we hate you and you are required by law to LOOK at our epilepsy inducing crap that we constantly shove in your face. If you refuse, we will all die of starvation and so will our families and it will be YOUR fault."

Ah, go away. You can make websites without asking for money and you can run adverts all day, as long as you don't force anyone to look at them. I know because we are dong this with our website.

I searched a few Asian actress from a subtitled horror movie the other day and had ads pop up for "meet Asian" ladies.
Then I searched for septic pump parts and those ads popped up for weeks.
Juussst sayin! Haha

That is true, I have a habit of modding game's to hell and back so often visit a modding site called the Nexus and when I come over to ATS on the same session or vice versa I have all these unpalatable add's would suddenly begin to pop up, one of which was to me highly offensive as it seemed to show what looked like a teenager in a sultry pose but then I noticed it was from a heavily modded version of Skyrim and a computer generated character - definitely a perverted creation though so I still complained to google with no effect, other time's when I was researching a point due to the topical Current Islamist terrorist threat's the advert banners would instead suddenly pop up with images of attractive and often suggestively dressed woman and telling me to meet Arab lady's, not to offend them I am not in any way adverse to attractive lady's regardless of race, creed or religion if they want to pay for the beer but I really can't see them doing so and so that was also not up my street.
I actually now find the pathetic advert's quite stupid and also funny if annoying as hell so yes you have a point.

It is down to both tracking cookies and tracking software including non local at the google/bing end on there servers that monitor were you go, what you do and all for market research and marketing or so we are supposed to believe.

Site's like ATS can only really make money by selling advertising space so that is not a big thing and many site's such as the Nexus sites were I download and upload mod's are actually very sensitive to if you have a pop up blocker enabled as they make there revenue mainly from advert's as well.

The day's of the old internet were free sharing, collaboration and even free news were all present are now long gone, copyright lawyers trawl it for anyone and everyone to prosecute for the slightest infraction, pervert's both openly and secretly trade there wares and dating site's are vying to take stupid people's money left, right and centre, ahh I miss the older net very badly.

Not rly. Im always seeing russian dating ads on ats and i never googled stuff related or have a russian fetish in my porn history.

i get add on here that are totally unrelated to what i search for on the inter net. i get adds for television shows, adds for hospitals, adds for doors and windows, adds for harem pants and all kinds of stuff. none of which is related to anything i have searched for. i haven't seen any adds like the OP got tho ..

on other websites i see allot of adds that are related to the kind of thighs i search for.. but on this website its all over the place on what the adds might be.

My ads are usually handbags, shoes, and doggie supplies.
