I believe the effect is real, but the principal suspect is lactic acid produced by cancer abnormal glycolysis. Bicarbonate anion may help but adressing the lactate production is probably much better solution.

Anyway, the effect of bicarbonate of sodium is to lower the probability of extravasation and metastasis; THE MAIN PROBLEM WITH CANCER.

If you solve the metastasis problem, cancer (solid) become a simple problem that any respectable "butcher" can solve easily...

So, you say you check your blood acid levels: as stated before, blood PH can only be between 7.35 and 7.45, lower or higher and it kills you. What are your blood acid levels? And how do you check them?
