Nice vids Neo. But it's still only effective to protect a specific point in a single moment. I'll read more about it though on the pdf link below, here is a bit about it for those like me who are unfamiliar with ROSY

Unlike the conventional smoke protection systems in use around the world today, Rosy® is able to generate dynamic smoke screens as well as spontaneous, large-area and multispectral interruption of the line of sight (LOS). Rosy® thus provides sustained protection for moving and stationary objects. Moreover, its multimission capability represents a sure defence against stream and wave attacks.

True but in the age of C4ISR, and network centric warfare.

Just not a single thing on the battlefields.

I guess in theory lasers can vaporize steel I just can't find any footage of it, only animations and I will remain skeptic until I do. The only time I can find footage of lasers cutting through steel it is combined with forced air.

I'd hate to see it get rocked by an earthquake, activate, malfunction, and start spinning aimlessly out of control.

Ha, laser disco ball from hell, the Aussies would love this too for a really wicked BQ.

That is one of the many military secrets China hacked from the US and then built it bigger and better from 2013, 14 and 15.

Showing off a fancy box and actually showing it works are two different things.

Anything can be done on video via this digital age.

Let them slice one of our aerial reconnaissance vehicles out of the sky then I will believe they have the edge up.

Poly Technologies showed off The Silent Hunter, one of the world's most powerful laser weapons. It claims an output of at least 50-70 kilowatts, which would make it more powerful than the 33-kilowatt laser weapon systems (LaWS) currently deployed on the USS Ponce.

You could say it makes the USS Ponce look like a bit of a ponce...

ponce
pɒns/
Britishinformal
noun
noun: ponce; plural noun: ponces

1.
derogatory
an effeminate man.
2.
a man who lives off a prostitute's earnings.

verb
verb: ponce; 3rd person present: ponces; past tense: ponced; past participle: ponced; gerund or present participle: poncing

1.
seek to obtain (something) without paying for it or doing anything in return.
"I ponced a ciggie off her"
2.
live off a prostitute's earnings.
"he was arrested for poncing on the girl"

Who the hell thought that would be a good name for a ship?

On topic, this is amazing, I was beginning to think I wouldn't see weaponised lasers in my lifetime, despite spending my childhood expecting a future of just that (as well as flying cars). What interesting times we live in...
