Yet President-elect Donald Trump seems to think the media ought to state as fact that Mexico will indeed finance the project. Trump kicked off his Friday by tweeting that the media is “dishonest” because it refuses to report a deal that hasn't happened yet — and won't ever happen, according to Mexico.

On 1/6, here is the unfortunate Trump tweet, doubling down on nonsense he has stated for a year, but with a slight twist.

Trump Twitter

The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!

Kellyanne's Expected Response:

That hasn't changed, but Congress is examining ways . . . to have the wall paid for through their auspices, and then Mr. Trump is making the point — the president-elect is making the point — that he will have Mexico pay it back.”

First, they would pay for it, President Nieto said no. Then Trump stated they would pay through higher tariffs, I doubt those will pass, that only passes the cost ont the consumer. Now, it is that Trump wants the money appropriated through a Bush era program that is not funded-Trump means to get it funded with TAXPAYER MONEY, fees on Moneyygram transfers and other measures that are only, at he moment, ideas or parts of Trump Tweets.

But, at the moment, payment by Mexico is far from a sure thing. It would make zero sense for the media to report that “any money spent . . . will be paid back” because there is no such agreement in place.

Trump is most definitely living in an alternate reality.

The public is required to believe all Trumps lies from now on so the media will have to tow the line. I'm sure when the wall doesn't get built Trump will say that it was Hillary that said she was gonna build a wall and make Mexico pay for it and the lying media misreported it.

If it's any consolation, many right wing conservatives are beginning to question Trumps mental stability.
Some of my old GOP bosses and colleagues I worked for during the campaign are very concerned.

Is this the same "Media" that predicted/speculated a Hillary Clinton presidency?
As well as doing everything to prop up Hillary Clinton.
Yet they refuse to inform people what the real PRESIDENT intends to do?
Riiiight...

Deal or no deal people have the right to be informed on all aspects of life in America even if it's things that disrupt your "alternate reality".

but what about Hillary's lies ... oh....wait... that excuse ran its course.

ummm... snowflakes? yea, snowflakes think trump cant get another country to pay for a wall, they can think again.
Trumps plan is real and is happening.!

seriously though, this wall will need to be a joint effort between us and Mexico. since Trump is a great negotiator, i think he will be able to work out a 'deal' and come to a mutual compromise. and that deal would have to be embedded in what should be part of a new immigration reform. Mexico needs to put in as much effort as us. tighten diplomatic restrictions on Mexico, small sanctions etc, make them want to help the immigration problem instead of instigating and daring them...

how about acting presidential Trump. 14 more days to be the leader of the free world... smh when i think of it...

That argument goes far afield. The OP is about yet another, odd, Trump tweet.

The media HAS reported what Trump intends to do on this matter. Over and over as Trump's approach changes. The refusal is to not state that Mexico WILL pay it back as a fact with no agreement in place.

Lots of reason to be concern-- all this combativeness against his own people and calling the media dishonest; all the disparaging remarks -- its not healthy for the country. And he operates on such a childish level of double standards-- he loves the media and his people not when they are right or good, but when they stroke him off. It's based entirely on if its good for him. He's obnoxiously self centered -- to a potentially dangerous level.

Well the 'wall' itself seems to be shrinking..in length, 2500miles I think, is down to 5/600miles

Reading Ezekiel dreams seems more sane that this fecking wall. Yet another hissy from Trump is all you can say.

The media reports on all sorts of stuff Trump hasn't done yet, why should this be any different.

The media IS dishonest. Where was the exuberance to hold Obama to his exact words? Trump hasn't even taken office yet FFS!

It's not just the left reading Trumps tweets; plenty of conservatives are reading them and noticing that Trump is a twitterbitch nutcase. The right is beginning to question if Trump can pull the presidency off with his obsession of self promotion and ignoring more pressing matters.

They are not dishonest in regard to this issue. Trump stated they are being dishonest due to this issue. It is pretty clear.

But, but Obama.....is not a valid argument.

Mexico will pay.

Just look at all the protesting going on there over gas prices.

They raised gas prices already.

Mexico is in turmoil.

And the Citizens will be paying.

Trump is outraged by the media in a tweet and the media responded.

There is really no choice as to where they respond to Trump as he rarely communicates anywhere else.

If they can't pay for gas, I don't see them pay to build a wall. But, that is still not the point. The Mexican government has made no such agreememt.

It's valid when pointing out the sheer hypocrisy and doubles standards of our Democrat party press.

I think Trump is successfully trolling the opposition again.

He's got em all shook-up.

I'm not even a fan of the wall as a Trump supporter, but at least he seems determined to follow-through with his campaign promises unlike every other President in my lifetime. If it does get built, I sure hope Mexico actually does pay for it. Oh and for those that don't know. Trump never stated he was expecting the Mexican gov to hand over a check. He plans to make them pay for it through other means they can't avoid.

The entire press is not Democrat. This is not the nly news outlet that reported on this.

Adding 'but Obama' and generalizations about the press are simply deflections from Trump's statement.
