every day a bunch of scientist teachers and ufologists die knowing how much they were important to the future generations
when they die nobody cares
however when a asshole(sorry again but this is justice) celeb dies everyone mourns
this year a bunch of celebs died however what about the people that leave their marks on humanity?

Hmm. Whilst I agree that people like Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher are not really more important or notable than any John or Jane Doe, it's just a simple and unavoidable human emotion to be upset when someone who has touched your life in some direct and tangible way passes. When people who you grew up watching pass away it is a reminder about your own mortality and such reminders naturally lead to some introspection.

We can all rail against the fact that a great scientist who we never knew gets less of an emotional outpouring when he or she passes, but I have found that railing against human nature is both pointless and futile.
