The bipartisan bill, which was introduced by Senators Portman and Murphy in March, will improve the ability of the United States to counter foreign propaganda and disinformation from our enemies by establishing an interagency center housed at the State Department to coordinate and synchronize counter-propaganda efforts throughout the U.S. government. To support these efforts, the bill also creates a grant program for NGOs, think tanks, civil society and other experts outside government who are engaged in counter-propaganda related work. This will better leverage existing expertise and empower our allies overseas to defend themselves from foreign manipulation. It will also help foster a free and vibrant press and civil society overseas, which is critical to ensuring our allies have access to truthful information and inoculating people against foreign propaganda campaigns.

SB.2692 was co-sponsored by a Democrat, Sen. Christopher S. Murphy [D-CT].

Walter Isaacson, an Obama appointment to the Broadcasting Board of Governors (a beneficiary of the $250M appropriation in the Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016) was advocating for this as far back as 2010 ~ according to the WL Clinton email dump. Just search the name and connect the dots.

Surprise! /sarc: Isaacson is the former CEO of CNN, and former Managing Editor of Time.

Here's a recent article Isaacson wrote on fixing the internet. He advocates having packets encoded with the address of 'authentic origin.' It would be voluntary, of course. Of course.

Did you even read what it was you posted? It is all on Foreign countrys not U.S. citizens, it bans nothing. only read the first link didnt bother with second.

I was going to comment it was introduced six months ago but others already commented on that. I did learn it was introduced by a republican from here.

So where exactly does that bill ban free speech?

Very simple. All they have to do is cry Russia did it! And under the guise of Top Secret they don't have to provide any evidence. Sound familiar? Helping them silence sources like Wikileaks under the guise of foreign propaganda etc etc.

The US government has also recently legalized dis info to it's own citizens. Put your thinking caps on kiddies. Put your oars in the water and help a little instead of slapping the hand trying to save us.

You know, typically the people pointing out that a republican wrote the bill are the same ones who'll say that both parties are the same.

Meanwhile we Deplorable Trump Voters knew the establishment left and right wanted to keep the status quo, so this is no surprise.
