By slipping through the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act, President Obama has signed the “Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act” into law, effectively putting all speech under federal control.

According to Alex Jones.... care to show exactly where and how it puts "all speech under federal control."?

Because Obama signed it on Christmas weekend.

No he did not, why post obvious lies? The last bill signed by Obama was signed on the 23/12/2016, and it is NOT the bill you mentioned.

By slipping through the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act, President Obama has signed the “Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act” into law, effectively putting all speech under federal control.

U.S. Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) today announced that their Countering Disinformation and Propaganda Act – legislation designed to help American allies counter foreign government propaganda from Russia, China, and other nations – has been signed into law as part of the FY 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report. The bipartisan bill, which was introduced by Senators Portman and Murphy in March, will improve the ability of the United States to counter foreign propaganda and disinformation from our enemies by establishing an interagency center housed at the State Department to coordinate and synchronize counter-propaganda efforts throughout the U.S. government. To support these efforts, the bill also creates a grant program for NGOs, think tanks, civil society and other experts outside government who are engaged in counter-propaganda related work. This will better leverage existing expertise and empower our allies overseas to defend themselves from foreign manipulation. It will also help foster a free and vibrant press and civil society overseas, which is critical to ensuring our allies have access to truthful information and inoculating people against foreign propaganda campaigns.

So where exactly does that bill ban free speech?

I understand your confusion.

Typically, it's the leftists that try to censor, ban, inhibit free speech.

But asshole republicans don't want to be left out!

Anybody can understand his confusion...can't they?

So from the actual bill signed by Obama, it looks like a government panel will decide who they can smear when the agendas and narratives don't match their own criteria.

Great Caesar's ghost !! (I mean Khrushchev)

“Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016”.

What are you actually babbling about? That Bill has not even been passed by Congress yet....

The last bill signed by Obama was www.congress.gov...

Please show where that bill limits free speech.

This thread is just another hoax by infowars.
Exactly. It went to a committee where legislation goes to die. We'll never see or hear from this specific bill again - 50 to 1 odds.

Hopefully Trump will reverse all these last minute under the table moves.

Oh yeah, I am sure Trump will be a bastion of free speech

That's what worry's me about him sometimes. But you all need to realize Trump was talking about ISIS recruiting with the internet. Not average citizens digging for info.

Luckily there is no such thing as a slippery slope.

I just read from your link that the bill was written by a Republican. That the Congress supported the bill, a congress controlled by Republicans. So how is it that you manage to place all the blame on Obama? How is it that even though this bill was written almost eight months ago, that you say he banned free speech in the dead of night.

Clearly he's drinking the fake news.

SB.2692 was co-sponsored by a Democrat, Sen. Christopher S. Murphy [D-CT].

Walter Isaacson, an Obama appointment to the Broadcasting Board of Governors (a beneficiary of the $250M appropriation in the Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016) was advocating for this as far back as 2010 ~ according to the WL Clinton email dump. Just search the name and connect the dots.

Surprise! /sarc: Isaacson is the former CEO of CNN, and former Managing Editor of Time.

Here's a recent article Isaacson wrote on fixing the internet. He advocates having packets encoded with the address of 'authentic origin.' It would be voluntary, of course. Of course.

The internet is broken. Starting from scratch, here's how I'd fix it.

Very simple. All they have to do is cry Russia did it! And under the guise of Top Secret they don't have to provide any evidence. Sound familiar? Helping them silence sources like Wikileaks under the guise of foreign propaganda etc etc.

The US government has also recently legalized dis info to it's own citizens. Put your thinking caps on kiddies. Put your oars in the water and help a little instead of slapping the hand trying to save us.

You know, typically the people pointing out that a republican wrote the bill are the same ones who'll say that both parties are the same.

Meanwhile we Deplorable Trump Voters knew the establishment left and right wanted to keep the status quo, so this is no surprise.
