These are some pics my son took just before christmas.
They were taken in and around Basrah.

I will add some more to this post when i get the chance. just thought i would share them with you all.

i was just wondering if you could of resized them abit before posting them? these pictures arent very good for the dial up users.

Next time i mail him i will tell him. But i dont think he needs any encouragement from me.

Cant wait for him to finish his tour. He done around march time. Missing the little sod like hell right now.

he been out there since August last year.
He got home for 8 days at christmas.

he says its freezing at night. Minus 7 & 8. But at least 65- 70 during the day.

My son is currently serving in the Army Air Corps. he is a door gunner on the Lynx helicopter and also seconded as the platoon sniper.

i would Love to post pictures of him "at work", but i have been told i cant for obvious reasons.

It is actually rather common for a Desert to be freezing at night. A desert is only a desert because of a lack of presipitation. And of course the number one thing you need for that is clouds. The absence of clouds during the day gives the opportunity for 100% of the sunlight to hit the surface and warm it up for the whole day. At night the sun is gone, and as there are no clouds there is absolutley nothing keeping any of that heat here because the clouds bunce that heat back down to the surface as it tries to escape. Of course we all knew that anyways.

Great pictures, if its possible see if he can get any of a regular day in the city. Hope he gets back on time. Cheers
