I've attached a screenshot showing that The Daily Mail, which has a popular comments section for each news article (if you can call them that), has
been manipulating upvotes and downvotes for individual comments, having the impact of determining which posts are seen by the user and the social
validation they come with.
The 2nd reply, which is by the original commenter, states that at that time 16 people had downvoted this comment. The comment after that is someone
saying that The Daily Mail is manipulating the votes, and that the downvotes were as high as 18 then brought back down to 10. We can see this is true
when we look at the downvotes when this screenshot was taken, 11.
