Thinking about foreign meddling, the Chinese, Russians and Cuba are aiding the Maduro government. The Russians have some troops there and possibly two nuclear capable bombers. Maduro was supposedly to go to Cuba in exile, but since has changed his mind about leaving likely due to the foreign support. Guaido's military coup is very lame at the moment, small, weak, and without a lot of military support.

Trump is calling for sanctions against Cuba now and more for Russia (I think). Let's see how much we will get involved now. I expect more US activity in Puerto Rico and Panama maybe western Africa.

To me, Guaido seems completely naive; maybe moreso than someone who had been schooled by US CIA/StateDept should be.

In his initial announcement yesterday, he seemed to count on support from some military "middle management" that evaporated once the crowds hit the streets.

The thing is, when you organize a rebellion, you cannot count on recruiting accomplices by asking them to join beforehand. When you whisper to a military commander that you're starting a coup next Tuesday, you know what his response is going to be? "Ok, cool". Then he reports it immediately to the dictator.

Saddam Hussein used to test his henchmen by having his own sons contact commanders and say that a coup was in the offing. If the commander in question didn't immediately call Saddam's cell phone and report it, the commander "got disappeared" into Saddam's shredder behind the palace.

Those Venezuelan colonels didn't get where they are by being patriotic and making martyrs of themselves. They got their commissions by being loyal to Maduro, and telling him everything.

You'd expect a CIA puppet to know that....

Of course not.

Wouldn't that be considered interference and/or collusion?

Yeah, Guaido seems like a fish out of water, like he was just thrown into the situation and it's sink or swim. He seems really unsuited and unlikely as an operative of some kind.

We'll see how this plays out and add the summary to the lesson book. After that it will be to watch for parallels in our own country and hopefully be prepared for it.

Here is the latest on Venezuela and the next step here in the states (after gun confiscation).

All it takes to be a millionaire in Venezuela is a few American pennies: the beleaguered South American country’s economy is so bad, they’re introducing a million bolivar note worth roughly 53 cents. . . . The move comes as hyperinflation has made smaller bills superfluous and worthless – and most citizens are “turning to the U.S. dollar for everyday transactions,” Bloomberg notes, adding “About 66 percent of transactions across the country are (now) estimated to be made in foreign currency.” Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro has claimed he is going to make the country the world’s first fully digital economy, in an attempt to fight the inflation which ballooned to more than 3000 percent last year.

NY Post Article

The great reset in action. Inflate the money until is has no value and impose an electronic currency to replace it.
