Kristen Schaal (/ʃɑːl/;[3] born January 24, 1978) is an American actress, voice artist, writer, and comedian. She is best known for her roles as Mel on the HBO series Flight of the Conchords, Louise Belcher on FOX animated comedy Bob's Burgers, and Mabel Pines on Gravity Falls. Other notable roles include her appearances as a commentator on The Daily Show, Amanda Simmons on The Hotwives of Orlando, Hazel Wassernameon 30 Rock, Victoria Best on WordGirl, Trixie from the Toy Story franchise, and Anne on Wilfred. Since 2015, she has co-starred alongside Will Forte in the Fox Comedy The Last Man on Earth, playing the role of Carol.
Her other notable film roles have been in the X-Men series, portraying Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). Her performance earned her a nomination for Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Scene Stealer. Then followed crime-drama film An American Crime (2007); drama The Tracey Fragments (2007), a role that won her the Vancouver Film Critics Award for Best Actress; Smart People (2008); sports comedy-drama film Whip It (2009); Super (2010); and Inception(2010). She also provided the voice acting, motion capture, and likeness for the character Jodie Holmes in the video game Beyond: Two Souls (2013).

Since 2010, she has played Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler – like the actress, a neuroscientist – on CBS's The Big Bang Theory, a role for which she has been nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series,[5] and won a Critic's Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
