Africaans were, and are, a very small minority. Even within the white population of South Africa. Power was to be reserved for the White Africaans only. Or so my understanding of it works. I may be wrong.

Whites of British decent were considered second class, along with colored (their definition, not mine.)...with the black majority little better than slaves or animals in the eyes of many Africaans.

Yeah, history reveals a very violent and arbitrary past. Few real examples of cultural integration exist, except for the USA. This is what I explain to my friends who are anti-immigrant or anti-Muslim, that America was indeed "made for you and me", but also for "them", it's a place of immigrants. If you want pure blood societies, good luck finding it in the 21st century and you can't go back....and why would you?!

Really, the American Model is important to preserve and support. I believe does showcase some of the best of societal thinking. Not perfect, but good.
