Charlie the Cat

A stray kitten he was
So tiny as can be
Charlie the cat
Was meant for me
He's so very sly
Full of energy and wonder
Sometimes we see eye to eye
And don't bother each other
Until .. the dead of the night
When all is still in the house
Meowing loudly.. giving me a fright
His food bowl is empty
How could this be?
Lazily I fill it up
And I lay back down
He is done eating,
Fast and in a hurry!
Now standing above me-
Peering into my soul
Is that what he's doing?
Surely not, he just wants outside.
Oh Charlie the cat, I do love you so
But goodness you're annoying!
